I was shooting falling plates at the range as they are getting ready for a local shoot. I have never shot falling plates but it was really fun. What does this have to do with reloading you ask. I was told my hollow point reloads would not be allowed during competition. I have to use FMJ which I have like 300 loaded up, Ha Ha My rounds were just to powerful and would have a tendency to blow holes in the plates. I had a good laugh on that one. but all it all it was fun and I improved my speed on the second try.  Craig

A great example of the kind of expertise you get from the guy behind the counter at the gun range.  All to often I see a similar level of expertise at the gun counter as well.

The lesson I take is that generally the person behind the counter, regardless of the industry, probably doesn't know much.  But they think they do.

In all fairness these guys are all trying to be safe as possible and are dealing with a few of us that haven't ever shot in competition. I don't mind safe as long as it makes sense. Well I just finished 50 124g FMJ rounds and am planning to do more. Craig

Found out the plates are really cardboard!! My hollow points were really making a mess of them. Oh well I guess cardboard is safer than metal in a range who'd  of thought!!  Craig
