Looks good! If you have access to or can get a piece of steel or sheet metal to cover the wood top, it would be a convenient add for clean up and accident purposes! Spilled lead on wood is a pain in the arse!

Lol, Thank, will be looking into that next week

With a rolled upward edge to keep it from spilling into your lap.

Thanks, have been trying to think of something of that would work well without incurring a bunch more expense. Something like a large cookie sheet with very low edges might work ok. Any ideas would be appreciated

You could use the sheet metal from an old washer, dryer, refrigerator etc.
No molten lead in the lap is always a good thing! My casting is done while standing!

Kenk

I stand as well, so that should minimize that aspect

Scrapped furnaces and ducting could provide large/flexible/lightweight pieces of sheet metal.

Now that I?ve shortened the height a bit, and things are warming up, it?s working well, just need more time for stuff like this
