I will start off by telling you I am a Glock guy. I love my Glocks. But, when comparing the 29 and the SA XDM 3.8, it is the Springfield hands down, in my opinion. TO me it feels better in the hand. The Glocks grip is huge. The XDM grip just fits my hand better. I feel the XDM is softer shooting than the Glock. I feel accuracy is better with the "Match" barrel. I love using red dot sights  and put one on the XDM the day I got it, so I have never used SA Unotch rear sight.

It's a close match for me too, but I land on the glock side of the coin.

The SA fits the hand better and has a more traditional trigger feel.  But it achieves that good traditional trigger break by fully loading the striker.  The trigger only trips the sear.

For a carry gun, I prefer the Glock action that only partially loads the striker spring. I like that extra security in a carry gun, especially when my deep conceal preference is appendix.

I bought my first Glock (G20) around 1994 and have had a G29 which I am not upgrading as I like it without the rail, and have upgraded the G20 twice. I also have the G40 MOS. I will get a Springfield 3.8 at some point (already have ~10 of the old steel 1911 Omega, Omega Match, and Linkless models). Why? Just because I am going to get every 10mm production model made by the time I die. LOL

Looks like you have your work cut out for you 😊

I have a G40 I hunt pigs with and I have had a G29 for a pretty good while.
I used it as a CCW in and on the way to the woods when scouting or cutting trails, and it is comforting in the camper at night.

I never loved it though and bought the 3.8 Elite and sold the G29.

I really like the SA. It points better and fits my hand even with the magwell in place.

Now to see if I can unload my G29 and find a SA 3.8 Elite.

I have a SA 10mm 4.5 OSP and love it. It is my primary woods gun.
