Herter's Super Model 3

I needed another lightweight C press.  My previous mobile press was pressed (no pun) into duty as the press at the cabin.  My plan was to just buy another Lee Reloader press, which used to cost about $35.  I was shocked when I shopped them and they are now over $70 delivered.

I went to the local classifieds and picked up a Herter's Super Model 3 for $20.  With a universal shell holder adapter I am still under $45.  And the press is very beefy for a C-press.  It was too heavy to be a mobile press, but I had another Lee Reloader that was mounted to my bench as a small utility press, so I swapped them.

I know this bright yellow color is not correct for a Herter's product.  But I don't like brown as it hides dirt and grease, and blue, orange, red and green are taken.  And I like the bright color.

I still have to add the spring, ball and screw that act as a detente to keep the handle up and out of knee smacking range.  The boss is present and threaded 1/4-20, so I just have to get a spring and a detente.

The press seems VERY strong, and to have a really good linkage geometry to provide force multiplier.  It resizes 9mm like it's not there, and 223 about the same.  I need to track down some hot 300 win mag brass to really work it out.

All in all, very excited about this press.
