Sick of everything being out of stock. Especially reloading supplies.  These companies want to make money right? Make more product.

Has anyone heard anything from the manufacturers to get timetables on availability of primers and powder?

Patriot

I just sent out emails to every powder and primer company I could think of. Hopefully they respond with some answers.

They are too busy with DHS and their orders  :o

First response: Accurate Powder.

To sum up their repsonse, they plan their powder production years in advance,  this situation will affect powder production down the road. The powder they are producing now is based on sales from a few years ago. They have no plan to ramp up production.

Second response: Hodgdon/IMR

Their response was that they are at maximum capacity. They asked that we spread the word that there is no government conspiracy to buy up all the ammo and powder. They said that only 2% of their powder goes to government agencies. The shortage in supply of reloading powder is caused by internet rumors on Facebook and forums.

Yes blame FB and forums. That sounds like something a speech writer would come up with. Blme yhe company for not hiring more people and producing more product. whats wrong with creating a job and selling more products. Am I missing something.

Probably because they don't expect this buying frenzy to last. They don't want to invest in new machinery and employees only to be overstaffed in a few months.

It is hard to believe that there are No Primers or Powders at none of the larger outlets stores on their shelves.

I sort of look every other day...most are not accepting back orders... truly stinks of some sort of conspiracy!  :o   ???

Local Bass Pro has some powders but they don't last long. The other day some Longshot and several others. Varies from week to week. No primers lately when I've been in. Sometimes some 22LR but it sells out quickly......couple of hours if that long.

Like DM, I've heard nine months to a year before they can catch up with demand.

I KNEW if Obummer was re-elected this would happen AGAIN! So I stretch what little I could scape up and restocked everything November.
Wish I could have afforded the 5000 boxes of primers instead of the boxes of 1000, though.    >:(
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I was lucky to get in on some manufactures cases of primers

This. If there was a quick and financially sound way to ramp up production, they would do so, but it doesn't make sense to invest huge money to keep up with a few months to a year of panic buying.

The same thing happened last election 4 years ago; the supply leveled out within a year (although prices never did go back down much around here).

Well, the manufacturers are sending the stuff somewhere.  There's NO stock at any of the major suppliers/distributors, online stores, chain stores, etc.  If they are in fact at maximum capacity, where's it all going?  Several of my LGS's haven't seen an order of powder in months, and primers trickle in so slow, if I'm not on the list, I don't get any, and only 1,000 at a time when I do.  Components or loaded ammo, it doesn't matter.  If they aren't going to contracts, where are they going?  PD's and SO's have shortages, too.  They have supply contracts that aren't getting filled, and they are shooting/training LESS.  If the Fed isn't involved, who is?  Somebody's got some 'splainin' to do.

I was in the LGS yesterday and a guy stepped up to the counter looking for 9mm ammo. Everyone about laughed and same for the .308 someone else was looking for. The counter guy said they expect something in 6 mos. How's that for a check-back date!
