I bought a eaa witness wonder finish for $ 250 dollars.  It is in the 10mm caliber.   The owner had replaced the oem slide spring with "some thing".  He could not fire the 10mm pistol.  I took the 10mm to my shop and cut off the too long slide spring.

The witness works and functions fine.  It is however making the slide very heavy when cambering a round.

I am  checking the wolff springs.  Does anyone have a spring weight and brand to suggest. I have 25 10mm pistols in my collection of 10mm handguns.

I like Wolff 18-20lb springs in my EAA 10's

Hi Terry, where you been hiding?
I also run 20# Wolff springs in my Witness.

Same.  I have tried pretty much all weights between 18 and 24, and 18-20 is about right.

We have very short summers at 7,000' in the Rocky Mtns.  I reload during the long winters and shoot when the sun shines.I am also shooting my CMP rifles Garand .30-06 and Garand .308.  My M-14/M-1A  is the 7.63 Nato it wears a 24X Power scope.  Our Desert Range has targets out to 2,500 Meters.  I only shoot at the 1,000 meter targets..
I have 18 @ of the 20 10MM pistols did part with a few.  No LP primers or 10MM ammo out here. Many handgun owners are selling their 10MM pistols. Hope all is well in Florida.  Were you going to Montana this summer?

I hope you do not mind a slight hijack of the thread. my witness seems to misfire 2-3 rounds every magazine. when laoded the mag drops about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. I'm thinking this is causing the misfeeds.

assuming i am correct is there an adjustment to the mag release that can lock it up?
any advice appreciated

My mags sit short too in my full size 4.5".  They don't in my Elite Match.  In fact, I had to sand the top of the base plate of a few of them to get them to seat in the Elite Match.  Both feed 100%, but my full-size did take about 500 rounds of break-in.  The full-size is also very sensitive to limp wristing.
