Guys:
I must have head up "you know where" regarding my original post and subsquent reply. My Delta Elite was not ported per say (barrel and slide drilled). My 'smith just relieved the ejection port similar to the Gold Cup slide. This did eliminate all case crease  damage. Sorry for my "senior moment".   :)

So that's all it took huh? Can you post pictures of the part your smith relieved? I would very much appreciate it!

Hmmm. The Delta seems limited in it's potential. I talked to a few people who have owned Deltas in the past, and they had the same issue when they started to sneak up on the full bore stuff. I am looking for non glock 10mm pistol that has a fully supported chamber and can run the 10mm to it's full potential.

This is not my own personal experience, just here say, from people who's opinion I hold highly. I have been interested in acquiring both the Smith 10 series, and Delta, and the fact that neither, will hold up to a consistent diet, of full power loads, is what I have been told. A lot of older Delta's, for the most part, have seen little hot loads, and most, only been shot, with available ammo at the time, which we all know to be basically 40 ammo in 10MM brass. What I'm trying to say is, if you want to shoot full power, in great numbers, I don't believe there is a firearm made, that could run with a Glock, for any great length of time.

None of my 10's are Glocks.

All of my 10 have consumed rather healthy diets of 10mm ammo that I loaded.  It is all well beyond 40 S&W levels, but not all of it is nuclear 10mm level.  One of my EAA's had issues with ftf jams in the first 300 rounds.  My Para conversion made a few Glock smiles with one specific load.  I have run in the area of 5,000 rounds through these guns.  About 2,000 each for the EAA's and about 1,000 for the Para.

They are all holding up just fine.

A Delta Elite doesn't offer the best barrel support out there.  It may indeed be the worst.  Factory Glock most likely be second.  The other 1911 platforms, such as Dan Wesson, Kimber use ramped barrels and provide excellent support.

. For lions a Delta Elite loaded with a good 180 JHP over a hefty charge of 800-X, Long Shot, AA#9, AA#7 will do the job plenty efficiently. Most lions weigh less than 150 lbs which are less than a lot of human adults. This one was about 170lbs and he qualified for the B&C book.

DEGOLDCUP, man where do you live? Saw your elk, too...nice take.

I have a recent (2011?) production DE and yes, the barrel support could use improvement. I just recently purchased an RIA and it has a ramped barrel with very nice support. I'll try to get a picture of the two barrels side by side tomorrow.
