I wonder if the 10mm mags are the same size as the .45 mags? of course the follower & fee lips might be different, if so, maybe they could be easily modified by the factory.

A friend of mine, who happens to be a retired police officer and police armorer, said that my 10mm mags looked exactly like his M&P 45 mags. With a different follower and sightly different fed lips. I don't own a M&P 45, so I can't do a side by side comparison.

To KenK: My research into who is the CEO of S&W yielded that this one is relatively new. Not that long ago the previous one was forced out for some behavior they wouldn't disclose and some upper management reorganization took place. Perhaps that could explain their inability or decision to not produce any replacements for wear parts on a gun that was released 8 months ago.

I contacted Promag yesterday and suggested they produce some M&P 10mm mags. Maybe they'll like the idea of having 0 competition from the original manufacturer.

Thank you!! I ordered 3 as well.

Interestingly, I called S&W this morning and was told they?re still not in stock.

Update: these mags went from $33.75 to $42.75 overnight at Bud's.

Mags arrived from Bud's today. They follower and feed lips appear identical to the mags that came with the gun. The new ones are slightly less polished on the mag body and have an almost sticky rust preventative (?) on them.

Thanks again to NurseShooter!! I'd still be frustrated and a little angry without your tip re Bud's.

Keep in mind that S&W is making a move of their plastic gun manufacturing to WV or someplace like that, and all the equipment to make those M&Ps, long and short, might just be waiting on the plant to be built!

They can't build the things out in a bare parking lot, right?

While it might be frustrating, you have to keep the whole picture in mind, the move to a gun-friendly state has of course, been a big deal for all involved. You can't really expect them to quit making guns/magazines/etc. one and and pick up production the next day in another state. Things just don't work that way.

I don't think S&W makes the magazines, Mec-Gar and a couple of other s make them. With they would put the older 9 round mags back in production and the 4506 mags..

That move isn't taking place until 2023. https://ir.smith-wesson.com/news-releases/news-release-details/smith-wesson-relocate-headquarters-tennessee They announce things like this, well in advance, to see if Mass will offer them a tax break to stay, etc.

Aegis is likely correct. Many gun companies contract with others to make their magazines. Checkmate is another example.

I've talked to a couple of gun shop owners about this in recent months. One is a quite large gun shop and does a pretty high volume business. Both of them stated that their experience with S&W customer service has been the same. Used to be excellent, but dropped off in the last couple of years.

Mags sure aren?t inexpensive, that?s for sure

if you could just buy the followers and convert the cheap LEO trade in .45 M&P mags I see advertised, would be great. but I imagine finding just the followers for sale would be harder than finding the whole mags. ::)

Hey Guys..new to the forum. I was able to find some at Proven Arms and Outfitters. Formerly Quantico Tactical. They are on backorder now but might be worth a try. They gave me a discount for ordering three or more. $30 for 1-2, and $25 ea for three or more, great prices.I had to do a deep dive to find them. Hope this helps.
