Called Smith and Wesson today said they were running an 18lb recoil spring in it. This seems kinda light. I run 22lb in Springfield and 24lb in 1911. Will a standard M&P spring fit the M&P 2? I called Wolff as well today they said had no specs yet and to wait a couple of months. So do you guys recommend running lighter level loads and with so what speed do you recommend running? Thanks

I found that Galloway Precision has a captured guide rod and spring that can be has with 15,17,20 or 22 lb springs. I purchased a guide rod with a 20 lb and some 22 lb spares. The 20 seems to work for now. Hope this helps.

Maybe you should do what the mfg of the gun says?

In many instances, this is decent advice, 10mm is often not that realm. With the super wide range of velocities from ammo to ammo, some manufactures *cough S&W cough* build the pistol with a 10mm chamber, a 45 frame, and a 40 S&W setup for the rest. Much like many 1911s, the MP 10 is revealing itself to need some modifications to the setup to run hotter 10mm ammo reliably in far more than just sporadic one off instances.

The mag springs in my MP 10 are by far the lightest springs in any of my mags across any of my semi autos. 10s tend to need a stiff mag spring to keep up with slide velocities. Yet they chose to run super light ones fully knowing this.

Sean Wolff advised that their M&P 45 springs and guide rod will work on the 4.6" 10mm, despite no info on the website. They're working on the shorter barreled M&P compatibility still. Ordered one in 22 lb and it seems to work just fine.

I recently bought a police trade in .45M&P. I want to convert it to fire .45 Super. I bought the Wolff guide rod and heavy spring not realizing that my pistol has a 4" barrel and not a 4.5" bbl. I called Wolff and he said they didn't make springs & guide rod for the 4" M&P. I was just about to cut my guide rod & spring down. after reading the posts above, I'm going to hold off and see if I can get one properly made. I'm also now going to check with Galloway precision to see if they have anything that will work. thanks for the info!

:) :) :) whoo hoo!! Galloway precision has a 22 lb. captured spring assembly for the 4" bbl. M&P. I just ordered one. BUT! i didnt think about it until after I ordered, I hope it will fit in the .45 slide. on their page they said nothing about what caliber it is for. only the barrel length. I pray this means it will fit. :-[
