heavier recoil spring for the G30S

Looking into getting a heavier recoil spring for the G30S. Because I run a lot of +P ammo at the range, it might cut down on any excessive slide battering, and then return the 17lb OEM spring for carry. My only question is how heavy to go. With the factory spring at 17, 19lb is the next one up. Is this something reasonable to prevent excessive wear, or would it be a waste of money?
