The Glock I was shooting OK until it went kaboom!!! It was inspected on site by some guys that are armors and x police and they said either a double load of powder (not possible) or a primer pushing a bullet into the barrel and another went off blowing up the barrel. It wasn't exciting for me I'll tell you that!! I am still not recovered. I thought I had lost a finger or two but I am fine. Don't want to do that again. Craig

wow! hope you fully recover. nothing like a little excitement at the range. :(

Squibs can be very dangerous.

Glad you're OK.
This post checked by independent fact checkers, and they're all pissed off about it.

I have been seeing some inferior brands of brass out there.  Using secondhand range pick-ups may not show the stresses that were put on it.

Things like powder bridges can occur using certain powders in a progressive press drop tubes.  The charge can stick or bridge only to drop in the next cartridge with an over charge.
Double charges are a possibility with uber fast powders where the charges only occupy a very small portion of the case capacity.
There is always the possibility that the feeding cartridge can jamb a bullet deeper in the case while feeding to raise pressures.
Squibs are a whole other issue if they happen while firing.

What was your load if I may ask?

gadabout

Sorry I was delayed on answers. The load was FMJ at 125g with Accurate aa5 powder at 6.5g max load. I have only been using since Alliant is not available. This load is very week compared to my regular loads of Power Pistol at 6.2 or so.  I fully believe a squib load put a bullet in the barrel and a second round blew up the barrel and did a lot of damage to the glock. I will unload the rest of this run of bullets to see if anything else could of caused the squib.  Craig

I've been there.  G20 blew the mag out the bottom, stung my hand like a ball bat, cracked up the frame, and left soot marks on my hand EVERYWHERE there was a tiny gap (mag release, trigger safety, act).

My kaboom was with hefty load of PP and 135g bullets.  That wasn't the main problem, but it did lower the safety margin.  The issue was Privi (PPU Headstamp) cases that was too springy and wouldn't hold the resize and the low tension of the bullet that resulted.

I didn't blow a barrel, just a case failure.  Totaled the frame though.  Hope I never see anything as extreme as you experienced.  Why a "mini" kaboom.  Seems full fledged kaboom to me.  Glad you turned out ok at the end.

Got the model 34 Glock yesterday and mounted the green dot site on it today. It is shooting quarter size groups but off center a little. I will adjust. Nice gun though!!  Craig

Hey Craig, Congratulations on the  34, sounds like a deal to me

gadabout

Well I am so dialed in I got tired of shooting bullseyes with the Glock with the  green dot!! Shot the S&W CSX but it is so small I do have a time trying to shoot with accuracy. Oh well I will keep trying!!! Craig
