I'm looking for a 10mm woods carry gun to replace my G20. I know, I know, it's a good gun but I just hate Glocks. I still want a double stack, right now this is my list.

RIA 1911 ULTRA FS HC
M&P 4" NS
Witness Elite Match
IFG Defiant Stock I

I'd like to keep it at 1k or less, is there anything I'm missing?

There is nothing wrong with the Glock 20, very reliable firearm...I do like the Elite Match and Stock series

Nope, nothing wrong with it. I just don't enjoy shooting Glocks.

The problem most of the market gave up on double stack 10mm leaving it all to Glock. Love my p220/10 buts it?s the G40 in the woods. Am looking at the RIA HC inn10mm - 16 rounds. But I feels SA only is just as bad as striker fired.

I want to love my RIA Ultra FS HC.  I even spent a fair bit of labor re-contouring that magwell to make it carryable under a shirt.  But it has never passed my 200 rounds without a stoppage test.  My Para P16-10mm does, so it gets the nod when I want to carry a 1911.  But...A day or two with that much weight in the holster makes me re-think my life choices.

The Elite Match is a solid gun and I can't remember the last time I had a stoppage.  But, every single edge on that gun can be used to shave.  Fine for the range, not great for carry.  I would guess after a day or two I would also grow tired of the weight, but I never have gotten through two days before I decide the sharp edges are not fun.

The IFG Stock I has promise based on the pictures.  But weight will once again be a big issue, and I gotta think that beaver tail will be bothersome too.  Maybe the pictures just make it look big, but I am pretty sure with some trap wires an F-14 could land on it.

That leaves the M&P, which I have no experience with.  However, in general poly framed guns are light enough to be carried and tend to be pretty reliable.  On that list it is the gun I would have the most confidence I would be happy with for actual carry.

If you want a steel frame, don't over-look the plain old Witness. Mine is very good and gets the nod at least 10 days a month for EDC.

Thanks all, I appreciate the replies. I've decided to go with the M&P. I already have 6 of them. 5 in 9mm and one in 22. So I'm more than familiar with the platform. I also have a handful of CZ pistols, so the Witness is a damn close second. If I need warranty work down the road I'd prefer to deal with S&W.

I have the RIA it's a well done 10 though I prefer my Witness Hunter it fits the hand better.

I have the RIA and it has been reliable, accurate, etc. However, it's heavy so chest holster works best.

I had the G20 and I had nothing but problems with it. I have the G40 MOS with a Delta Point Pro and it's been my go to for spot & stalk pistol in thick brush.

I also have a SF XD-M 4.6 and it's accurate, reliable, etc and it's my back up woods pistol.

M&P is my next buy, mainly because it's a 10mm and closes the gap between the XD and G40.

Never had a problem with a G20 or the G20SF, they have always ran top notch.... and yes, I hate the Glock grip as well... they just run like tanks.  8)

A Tanfoglio P-Carry in 10mm would be a nice Carry option
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

Doesn?t the XD Series come in a double-stack 10mm?

The OSP 3.8" is still on the website.  The larger 4.5 and 5.2 variants have been dropped.

If you're shopping RIA take a look at the Big Rock model 52000.  16+1 w/ a 6" barrel but it's heavy.  Almost 4lbs loaded (weight does calm the recoil a bit.)   The fiber optic sites, longer barrel, and rail makes it a little difficult finding a holster.
