10mm Reloading

I recently picked up a Glock 20. I am working on reloads I have some175 gr Barrys plated and poly coated hardcast.  I am using  VIHT N 340 powder. Test rounds run at 7grains:
Barrys = 1047 and 1072 fps
Cast = 1105 and 1109
Pressure signs all good so far
Hornady says 7.5 max on 180 grain bullets I would like to get 1250 fps.  Being that the bullets are 5 gr lighter than book how far past 7.5 max could I safely go?

Hello and welcome Jason!  I haven't used the VV N340 powders.  You might have to push it some to see what you see.

5 grains difference in bullet weight is insignificant unless maybe you are going beyond max levels.

What?s more important is the bullet composition and the actual bearing surface when comparing bullets of similar weights.

I agree with Shadow, the ball is in your court.

You don't say where you live, but remember in the heat of summer, ammo in a hot trunk, in the sun at the range, your loads will be a lot hotter. It's a good idea to work toward hotter loads in the warmer weather.
