Have never had a case become lodged in a decapping die before, but happened last night. I was convinced I was going to wreck the die, or at least damage or break the decapping pin until I found the below video. I?m sure there are other methods / videos, but this worked great. In addition, no lubricant was necessary

I had to do that for some relatives that had a .223 case stuck in a Dillon decapping/sizing die. I removed the decapping pin and unscrewed and removed the top of the die. Then I protected the bottom with some tape, set in on the opened jaws of a vise, and tapped out the case with a long steel punch and a hammer. I tried vice grips like this guy, but they wouldn't hold and were tearing off too much of the case.

Percussive shock is a wonderful thing.  ;)

The only cases I had get stuck were rifle bottle neck cases...223, 308, 30'06 over the many years.  Never had any straight wall cases get stuck.  I will say that Speer CCI 357 Sig brass has a very tiny flash hole and the decapping pin can get stuck and pull out of the Lee decapping rod, I made a special decapping pin to hand deprime those and then drill the flash hole to standard sizes.

I use the 1/4" 20 thread per inch tap and appropriate drill bit to open the flash hole then thread the tap into the hole to cut the threads.  You need to back the decapping rod out where it will be out the way of the drill bit and tap.
Then I use a spacer, heavy duty washers with a 1/4" x 20 bolt to extract the brass from the die.

Once the brass is removed, I screw the decapping rod out of the die then use a hacksaw to cut the brass open so it makes for easy extraction of the neck expander ball and decapping pin.

It turned out to be my blunder after all. It happened on the second 9mm I resized / decaped, Lol, I forgot to remove the 10mm  shell holder before starting the 9?s 😂
