Shot today with the 22 Rugar to set the site but it didn't need it, just a shooter problem that I fixed. Also shot the Walther p38 with the Universal rounds and it was bad, just week rounds and I just checked the web site and my rounds were closer to hot than not. I will dismantle one to see if it's a loader error!! Did shoot some 125g JHP with Power Pistol and they were great!!   Craig

I am loosing it for sure. I did the same thing with the Universal rounds on another thread but I am waiting for a new bushing for my unloader to take a few rounds apart.  Craig

My new bushing showed from RCBS so I took apart the 170g  7.0g pp 41AE round and it was very close to 7.0 so that is good now the 9mm 4.3 round came in at 3.5 or so, so that was loaded light!! I think that round would have been alright at 4.3 as it almost worked at the lessor level. I will reload some at 4.3 to get rid of the powder and make sure it was my error.  Craig

After studying the data for like a full day I loaded 2 rounds of 150g Lehigh defensive bullet with 8g Power Pistol with 9.0 being max for 40 cal this is 41AE. Boy any round with 9.0g Power Pistol is a stout round if you ask me. 8.0 starting is good and remember this is 40 cal data. 41AE is much stronger than 40 cal so we will see, maybe today. Craig

Back from the range. The 9mm 4.3g Hodgen 125g rounds shot OK but any round with Power Pistol is better. Now the 41AE 150g Lehigh defense round shot real good and a lot of fun. I can load these up now. I compared them to 170g JHP and they were only just a little under powered but close. I like to shoot them and I have a bunch so end of story. I will need to get some brass as I don't want to unload a bunch.  Kenk turned me on to a site that had new brass but at 1.25 each I thought I would look around first. Craig

One other thing I forgot to mention. With the Lehigh being longer due to being made out of light material I adjusted the round light as the bullet is sitting so deep in the case. Max is 9 grains and I loaded 8.0 to be safe. I can go to 8.5 I feel safely. It is a little hard to come up with data when the bullet is very light compared to the size etc. Boy it was fun shooting it anyway!!!!  Craig

Just got back from Cabelas to get the right collet for my  Hornady bullet puller to use the press and save the powder. I am having a little trouble with that process but are still working on it. The other news is I called Cabelas yesterday to see about primers and they didn't have any. Today they had 20 1000 count boxes CCI small pistol primers. I bought one not needing it but I thought what the heck. I now have 2500. Should last me awhile. I will need powder but do have quite a bit in my stock. Craig

One quick question. If I can make this bullet puller work I can then just put in a 150g bullet replacing the 200g I am taking out. This will save powder and primer. Any problem with that thinking. I will reflair and seat with a taper crimp to finish. I am only trying for 10 or so.  Craig

Well I just did two of these. The Hornady does not work so I used the hammer style unloader and I can unload with one swing of the hammer. I may be loosing a fraction of the powder but at the lower weight I don't think it will matter. Craig

Shot the rounds I did yesterday which was the 200g removal and replace with 150 Lehigh bullet. It was not as good as my 170g with power pistol. I think I will just unload and reload with fresh powder. I do have good data from Lehigh for 40 cal and they do have 150g and all the powders I use. I may try AA9 but I like Power Pistol so it needs more work. Shooting the 170g today and comparing it to the 210g and factory samson, the 170 seemed to be a little hot but that was after shooting the reloaded rounds so who knows.  Craig

Taking a break from 41AE. I was talking to a friend that has a range on his property that I use and I dropped off some 9mm for him and his son to shoot. I asked about 380 that the wife caries but never shoots. He was saying that the wife doesn't need any but his mother shoots 380 when she has rounds. I delivered 50 the next day. Kind of makes me the hero of the family. Craig

Fixed the 41AE Lehigh rounds that jammed in the mag as they were seated too long at 1.16 instead of 1.15. Will shoot those today just to test. This new range is getting me cleaned out of small quantities and I am loving it. Craig

Back from the new range and shot the 41AE Lehigh rounds and they were OK but very weak I need to reload these up but finding data for 150g is not easy. I may just find a Power Pistol load and work up.  Craig

OK Alliant data for 150g is max 9.0 so I will load that or just slightly less.

Just curious what gun are you shooting for the 41?

I used to shoot a lot of 41 25-30 years ago.

My 41?s consist of:

Jericho 941
Tanfoglio 41
Hi Power conversion
1911 commander conversion with compensator

I used to load for them as well, but I don?t remember much.

Mine is the Tanfoglio 41 I got at a super low price at a gun show. I called Tanfoglio and they sent me a 9mm barrel and spring but I have so many 9's I converted it back to 41AE. I shoot it once in a while but love to reload so I am working up a load. Craig
