Well, I stepped into the 1911 world of 10mm today. I bought a Kimber Custom II. Probably broke one of the biggest rule by goin straight from the retailer to the range. No breakdown, cleaning or oiling before shooting. Just loaded it up and started shooting. 100 rounds later, I totally love this gun. Ive shot Rock Island before and it was ok.  Rock Island is kind of heavy for my liking. Been wanting a 1911 10 for a while, but was holding out for a Ruger. This kimber is nice. Shot two types of ammo. Sig Sauer 180 grain FMJ and handloaded 180 grain Hornady XTP w/ 7.7 grains of Longshot.  Only had three fail to feeds. One was with the Sig Ammo and a rapid fire mag dump. Two with my handloads. I dont think that is too bad. Compared to my XDM and Glock, this Kimber really throws the brass. I had about 75% brass recovery compared to the 90% recovery with the others. I bought an extra Kimber Mag and both worked well. I havent decided if I will by more mags at this point or not.

While at the range I also sighted in a Vortex Venom I mounted on a Glock 30S with and outer impact mounting plate. THis will be my new most EDC. I also shot my Glock 19 MOS w/ Vortex Venom which was my duty gun. First time I have shot it since I left the Police Dept in September. HAd to bring the XDM10 with. Couldn't bring 10mm ammo to the range and leave that at home. Fun day. Now its time to hit bench, clean the guns and start loading to replace the 250 rounds I shot today.
