If any of you tried some of the newer electronic hearing protection.

I've been thinking about it in the context of my Noisey work environments I am around as well as shooting.

I believe I would want one with a Bluetooth connection my phone but still on the air on that.

For noisy work environment you should try noise cancelling stereo headphones. I wore a pair on a flight in a 1940's seaplane without my Ipod and I was the only one not bothered by the noise.

As an instructor with students they're GREAT we can hear each other talking but... while training on the range if a .22 shoots in a lane a few away, the sound blocking is annoying. if they're stereo. One ear cuts out later than the other. I think the stereo with a .22 issue is caused by the separation of the ears and there's little you can do about it.

I tried a couple with one mic / pickup and they work a lot better. I haven't tried a lot of brands but if you start with a single pickup set you can live with it.

I have and use these. They are good for shooting. I wear them hunting also. I am able to hear whats around me, but when I take the shot they shut out the noise. I did not pay the $239 price for them. They will have sales on them.  If I remember correctly, I paid about $159 for them.

I have a set of Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Muffs.

They work.  I don't use them all the time because what you do hear can get annoying.  The grass crunching under your feet, the trigger components moving against themselves when cocking the hammer, almost jumping when a distant song bird calls.

they are adjustable but normal hearing doesn't seem to be one of the settings.
