After 35 years, I finally got a 10mm

So I remember when Miami Vice was hot, 10mm was new, and Colt was introducing their Delta Elite. I was only in jr high but I was so incredibly into guns that I decided then and there that one day I'd have a 10mm. In high school, the fascination cooled and the usual transitions occured - college, marriage, a career. The interest returned after Sandy Hook and I got my CPL and a Bersa 380 to carry concealed. My first pistol. Then that desire to own a 10mm reappeared with a vengeance. I started learning who was making them and who made them well and who made them not so well. While I researched, I got sidetracked with a gorgeous SR1911 in 45acp, a Python, and several flavors of AR's. The NFA bug bit and I found myself playing with SBR's and suppressors. While all this was going on, my brother let me play with his Tanfoglio steel 45 and I fell in love. So I decided on a 10mm Tanfoglio. I found a barely breathed-upon Match in 10mm on Armslist at an incredible price and finally succumbed.

I've only put about 75 rounds through it but I'm eager to get back out and shoot it some more. So far I'm impressed and very, very pleased.

I was just starting college the year the Delta Elite came out.  It was the Bren Ten that bit me in the early 1980's with the 10mm bug.

My sophomore year of college in 1988 I convinced my 22 year old room mate to pick up a Delta Elite.  I got my own about 4 years later in 1992, then sold it to pay off credit cards before getting married in 1993.  Like you, life interfered with my gun hobby for about 10 years, but finally in the early 2000's I got back into the 10mm game with a Witness and then about 2 months later with a Witness Match.

I still miss my Delta Elite, but am not paying today's prices to get one.  I have an SR1911 in 10mm, plus a high cap Para Ordnance in 10mm and a Rock Island FSHC in 10mm to satisfy my 1911 desires.  I also have a Para P12 frame I am building up as a high capacity CCO in 10mm.  Just one last part to machine, but it is right at the very edge of my abilities on a mill, so I keep putting it off.

That Witness Match should serve you well.  Pretty soon I bet it has lots of siblings in your safe.

Glad you finally joined the club, sclark21.  I had always read how the recoil of the 10mm Planet Destroyer was something of a concern.   The curiosity got the best of me and, I  got me one without even trying one.  I was hooked.  In fact, I found the 10mm to be a gateway to more recoil!  I'm a big bore recoil junkie now, but the 10mm remains my favorite CF handgun caliber.  :o

Took me a while to get my 10mm was due to the evil capitalistic system keeping me down my taking all my money! When I finally could, I got lots of good advice here, and got the most versatile one first for a woods defense and hunting one with a 15 round mag capacity my glock 40. For me I found the G40 was the perfect woods and hunting gun, but for me a Glock isn't a good carry gun in any model. That's just me, I'm manual safety freak. But in a glock safe holster in the woods and hunting my G40 has dealt with bad 4 legged critters and got venison for the old man who needed it... (word of advice, take your little brother's phone so he can't call your "Evil Stepmother" and all excited tell her how you both got some deer so she won't say "Bring them over!" and loose your venison! You NEVER EVER tell some one about the first eating deer in the party! Unless its an old rough and tough to eat old trophy buck! All the relatives will want it!)

Welcome to the forum and the 10mm Family
Just for thought, and SQL mentioned ....
Since you know the quality of the SR1911, an SR in 10mm
A lot of Pistol for the Dollar
If I didn't have my Delta Gold Cup, I'd look into one
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

It took me a number of years to get my first 10mm as well. Once I picked up my first a number of years back, it has become my best millimeter / total favorite over everything 😀
