Hi,

I had some 200 gr. Hardcast made by extreme given to me by a fellow 10 auto friend. It's going to be going out of my Glock 20 with a KKM barrel. Can I use the load data for 200 gr hollow points in my Lymans (6.3 gr of Power Pistol) for my starting load safely?

I don't have any 200 gr hard cast load data in the books.

Thanks,
L2L

Yes.  Reduce 10% and work up.  Also, you will likely reach max velocity before you reach max charge as cast bullets tend to seal the bore better than jacketed bullets.

I've had good luck with 200gr hard cast bullets and 8.0 grs longshot. But like said start 10% lower and work up. That load for me gets around 1200fps.

Posted some stuff under the 220gr. thread but it's better to do it here.
We have settled on a 200gr WFNGC hard cast bullet over 12.5gr of Accurate #9 for a velocity of 1262fps...This is to be our son's bear load.

Just finished working up a load in my G20sf with kkm bbl.
AA#9 at 12.2grs chrono says right at about 1200fps.  No pressure signs on new starline brass.
Bullet is a 200gr badman bullet.  Don't have any measurements on the COL but I seated them to fit the mag.
Start at 11.4grs and work up.

Blue dot is my powder of choice along with 800x but it gets more touchy)

My bullet of choice is a MP mold 402-200.

Im currently working up, I have passed 1250fps in my 6" KKM. Case head wasn't quite .005.  (Not overly difficult) but mistakenly grabbed the G20 (I have two) with the 5.5" ported barrel. I usually have the stocker bbl in the bag. But for some reason it wasnt there. Long & short, I wanted 1200+ from the 4.6" so still need to check.

I loaded a ladder yesterday and fired from a Lone Wolf 5.5 & KKM 60 starting 6.5 to almost 8. Top velocity was just 1200 from both bbls. All loads perfectly safe my barrels.

Just a heads up for those interested.

Ordered 200 NOE 200gr. WFN-GC bullets on 8/25 and they arrived today, 8/31 from Montana Bullet Works.  6 days aint too bad for getting loading supplies in this environment.  $.36 per is a bit steep, but it's not like we'll shoot a ton of them.

OUCH!!!!  Start casting your own!!!  I cast up a couple hundred like that in under a hour sll coated & sized.

Yes there is a start up cost. But the savings from not needing buy bullets offsetts it pretty quickly.

For over 45 years of serious handgunning we have avoided casting our own bullets and don't plan on starting now. We did "inherit" a complete casting set up from an old friend years ago and after cleaning up a bunch of wheel weights and casting them into ingots decided the whole endeavor was not our cup of tea. Gave the whole outfit to a local guy who has kept us supplied for years in exchange for wheel weights.

Back when we started shooting IPSC (before it was called that) we bought 200gr. H&G 68s and 200gr. Adams bullets from an old guy at the club where shoot for $24/k; when he quit casting the price was still only $30/k. Shot a LOT of his bullets over the years.

The 10mm 200gr. WFN-GC bullets are for my son to carry while bear hunting. I doubt he'll shoot many during any given season so The cost of those particular bullets is negligible. For practice and general blasting ammo in the 10mm we have an assortment of hand-me-down bullets from a couple of former .40S&W shooters. When those are gone we will go with extremes or something similar.

BTW, We are NOT one of those guys who enjoys loading ammo; we've done it for years to maximixe the # of rounds per $s spent. Short of casting, we do what we can to cut costs and the time spent on the loading machines. Having 3 Dillons helps with the time thing and buying in bulk when stuff is cheap and available saves a lot of money and gets one thru times like these without much pain.

I admire those with the dedication and patience to cast their own bullets but we are lucky to get our loading done as it is without adding another step to the process.

Mark,

Thats what makes the world go round man!!!

I love it!!  I cast ir reload daily. Sometimes BOTH!!

I was able to steal a couple
Hours yesterday and hit the range further testing the Power Pistol under the MP 200g WFN. I AM AT 1260 avg with the 6". I dont need much more but still can load faster as I have no pressure signs telling me enough.

I also tested a 297-330g 45 Ruger Only bullet. (Allows full benifit if the longer 1.700 cyl.) load was a pleasant 70" fps ina. 10" Contender.

I have a video posted.
