Mushy Safety on Tang Witness Match

Finally got most of the bugs wrung out of this pistol but one last thing is kind of keeping it from being perfect, the safety.  It's indiscernible that you flipped it down to off.  Not a lot of click going up to on either.  Anyone know a quick, cheap, easy fix?

Based on experience with an original CZ-75, and two Tanfoglios, the CZ platform doesn't really lend itself well to a snick-snick safety, I can't recall any of them being crisp, frankly. Maybe they've changed them in the 30 years or so since I had them, but I don't recall them being nearly as crisp as a 1911, for example (neither is a Browning Hi-Power).

 As with my Sig P220 Hunter, it has a crisp satisfying click when engaging or disengaging the safety

All my witness handguns are far closer to a 1911 than to a High Power. 

OP, just remove the safety lever and sear assembly from the field stripped frame.  It is really easy to do with several videos on youtube.  From there you can see were the spring loaded detent in the safety lever engages the frame.  I am gonna guess yours needs cleaned, but you could enlarge the detent locators in the frame with a drill bit.

Ya I see that detente thingy in there and went after it with a tooth brush but didn't seem to do much.  Don't know if I want to go after the frame with drill bit/Dremel.  Will pop the detente spring and see if I might have something stronger to substitute, maybe an ejector spring from the bolt of an M1A or something like that.

I had a similar issue with my RIA Ultra FS / HC 10mm. Because I had already sent it in to RIA's Chief Gunsmith, Shawn Fairbairn for some other work, Shawn recommended cutting a deeper detent into the safety, and then installing a heavier duty plunger spring, which fixed the mushy / to easy on  / off ambidextrous thumb safety

So he drilled the safety, not the frame, eh?  I prefer to screw up the cheapest part first before destroying the whole of the gun.  Might try that.  Thanks.

Got some other projects going on right now, loading up a bunch (2,000 + rounds of 9 X 19 for friends and relatives) so this thread WILL reappear soon.  Then I move onto reloading the 10mm.  BTW I got gobs (like 12,000 large pistol primers) and need small rifle primers (2k +) 

Gun works fine and am really liking it now that I have it almost to perfect.

Can you get to the detent holes from the ass end with the trigger etc. removed?

No need to remove the trigger...Just pop out the safety lever and the sear group.

My bad, that's what I meant, remove hammer & sear from rear end of frame.  You can then get at those detent notches from the rear with a long small drill bit?

I still don't see how your going to get at those notches in the frame with a drill.  Frame covers those from behind.  Need a mini/micro off set end mill or something.
