Long Two Years Ahead

With run-off elections complete and the Senate split 50/50 it is time to get serious about defending our gun rights from legislative assault.  You can't leave this up to the NRA.

First, if you live in one of the states that elected a new blue congressman to replace a red one, start sending letters letting them know that their constituents that elected them (you whether you voted for them or not) did NOT vote for their gun control stance.  If they want to retain their seat, they need to learn to just say "No" to gun control.  My district sent a democrat to washington for 12 years in the early 2000's and he did an admirable job of crossing the aisle on such issues.

Second, if you don't own a modern sporting rifle (AR-15 or AK-47/74) now is the time, even if you have to pay disturbing prices.  I hate to add to "panic" buying, but the numbers in sales need to clearly indicate that people want these guns.  I would love for gun sales in Jan/Feb to be higher than the amount sent out in Covid-19 relief.  I personally pledge to you that every dime I get will go into guns.

Third, teach someone to shoot. No better activity for social distancing than outside at the range with masks on in separate bays or shooting lines.  You can introduce them to guns in a safe way.  My personal contribution comes in CFP classes.  In fact, I have a class on Monday that will have just under the legally mandated number of people getting their CFP.

Fourth, deluge your friends with stories of positive gun use.  Whatever your medium is for communicating, fire it up and be heard.

Fifth, find out now how you can influence the mid-terms so the house or senate can go back Red.  Mid-terms naturally work against the incumbent party, but our efforts between now and then can help.  Doesn't matter if you district is red or blue now, get with your local red potential candidates and find out how you can help.

We can weather this storm, but it will definitely be work over the next 24 months.
