30/30 shooters out there might find this interesting...

So a buddy of mine drops off a Winchester 94, scoped with a Vortex 2x7 Crossfire II Scout, and says work up a load with the Nosler 150gr E-Tip.  He had a box of 50 E-Tips and some primed Winchester brass, and a box of factory E-Tips. Ok, cool.
First thing I did was, do a pull-down on this Nosler factory ammo..

He had told me that he had a conversation with a Nosler tech, who informed him that there was no specific data for the bullet as yet.  The tech advised my buddy to use 30/30 170gr data and work up from there.  Hmm ok..  The E-Tip is very long, with an abundance of bearing surface, so it made sense.

The powder I was most interested in looking at was LeverRevolution.
36.0grs yielded 2246 fps with no signs of excess pressure at all.

Then I tried some 748, H-335, CFE223, and ARComp.
Data for 748 was all over the place, so just to be safe I started with 34.0grs. I believe I could push that to 35.0 with no issues.

The other loads were about right, and CFE223 produced the best group.
My buddy said load the rest up with CFE223 and call it good.

It seemed to me the factory load was a bit slow for a 150gr bullet, but they must have a good reason for that. Bullet length/1-12" twist barrels maybe.. Should be a nice little thumper for deer hunting up close.
WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

Thanks for another great documentation RDub01...

I'm thinking the powder is Winchester 748  Hodgdon shows it using 34.5 grains under 150 grain @ 2310 fps from a 24" BBL
The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!
