Looks like my chronograph maybe done.

What model would you recommend.

I have considered the labradar, but feel that maybe a bit much to spend. Would be a bit harder to have a accident on this model I think.

I think I like the Caldwell G2 but have read some mixed reviews on it. Like the the phone app to gather the data.

Get the LabRadar, you'll be glad you did.

I've found the Magnetospeed Sporter quite satisfactory, and for well under $200.  It's not without it's idiosyncrasies like all other chronographs, but I highly recommend it.

I have a ProChrono DLX. I also ordered the light kit so I can use it indoors. It connects and records to my phone through Bluetooth then I can download the data to my computer easily.

+1 for the labradar.  Love mine.

Just got my Second G2.  First one the tripod was busted right out of the box.  Got it through Amazon for $161.  They weren't going to replace cause the price went up 38 bucks.  I pitched a bitch and they replaced it.  The phone app works fine.  Got to check your settings and make sure everything is enabled.  Have only shot rubber bands through it so far but seems to work OK.  Much easier to set up than my Oehler.

Another for Labradar.

A chronic gives you one data point.  Labradar gives values as the projectile moves down range.  You wonder what the speed/energy is at 50 yards, its right on the printout.  It costs more, and gives you more.

Another benefit is NOTHING is in front of the line.  It cannot get shot.  You won't interfere by making the range go cold to set up, make adjustments, or to tear down to go home.

I like spending other peoples money:-). Makes me feel better when I indulge.

Decades ago got the Chrony Beta Master w/IR screens for basement pellets and range.  Shot it and they replaced it for under $50.  It was more erratic than my later models.

Oehler 35-super nice unit with great history of accuracy.  Too onerous to set-up but its one of the standards from back when.  SOLD

CED Millennium- still have it and its always worked extremely well with very rare no reads.  Kind of works in basement for pellets using lamp above screens.  Remote unit gives lots of info easy to retrieve.

Just bought the Caldwell G2 local Craigslist.  Why, it was $40 and all there.  Got the IR screens from Caldwell recently on sale for only $27 delivered.  Great in basement and seems fine at the range.  Easiest to set-up but extensive messing with the App has produced NO success.  Yes its been enabled and enabled.

Would like the Labradar but just too frugal and have so many readings for everything I should probably switch the hobby to shooting standing offhand/bi-pod field shooting for a change.

One thing that has improved success with all is putting the unit in the shade still open to the sky.  It goes behind the truck topper with lid up out on the prairie.

Merry Christmas to ALL!

OK.  Got a chance today to kind of test out the Caldwell G2.  Overall impression was it's OK.  Shot maybe 80 rounds of hand load 9mm and about 50 rounds of hand load .357 Sig.  Overall, most impressed with ease of set up.  I can leave this assembled on my shooting bench and just wip it out doors and start shooting.  Comes with it's own tripod which is kind of cheesy but sufficient for the task.  Connects pretty easy to my cell phone, LG Droid something or other.  Missed maybe five shots out of the 130 sent down range.  I will ring this out further against the Oehler.  See what difference between the two there is.

Thank you for all the feedback everyone.

Still torn, but got more to think about.

If haven't looked into the Oehler 35p you should take a look..
I've been using Oehler products for the last 40 years. Their customer service is top notch.
WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

I have the ProChrono Digital, predecessor to the DLX (now discontinued/superseded).

Love it. Works great and the price is right.
