Banshee = good

Had a plinking day today. Shot the Glock 20, Glock 35 with a SRO dot, and the 10mm Banshee. I tell you what, it doesn't take too many minutes shooting the same 10" steel targets against a timer to realize that if you ever need a gun for real, the Banshee is so much better than any handgun that there's no comparison.

I'm still just amazed at how the Banshee eats anything I feed it without hick-up or malfunction. I used the supplied 30-round magazine, some Glock 15 round magazines, and I tried out the 10-round magazines from my Glock 29. They all ran flawlessly in the Banshee, regardless of what ammo I fed it. I ran 165 grain warm loads, 165 grain semi-hots, 200 grain hard-cast hots, and 226 grain hard-cast hot-thumpers. Shooting for accuracy or doing a 30-round mag-dump, the Banshee just runs, and runs, and runs. Not a single hick-up in two hours of shooting up random leftover portions of this or that test load.

I'd like CMMG to make a proper 10mm carbine with a 16" barrel, but in the mean time the Banshee is really a fantastic weapon. Honestly, I think if you want a 10mm you can fire from your shoulder, there isn't any other option that comes remotely close.

Accuracy has been very impressive. I really believe that with many loads my ability to shoot through a non-magnified optic is the limiting factor. I've got a 1.5~5X Zeiss scope on my AR...one of these days I'll mount it on my Banshee and see what it will really do at 100 yards. I'm not expecting 1 MOA groups...it's a pistol cartridge launched from a 8" barrel after all, but I wouldn't be surprised to get three or four inch groups from the right loads.

Aside from shitsn'giggles I don't have any possible use for the Banshee, but I DO appreciate how well it shoots. As of yet, there isn't anything on the market that I think compares to it in 10mm.

I've been eyeing the MK10 since it was announced. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I agree a full-on carbine would be great, but I'd also be very happy with a 12" option. An average of the data on ballistics by the inch for 10mm looks to hit diminishing returns at about 13", so in my opinion saving the little bit of weight and length as a 12" pistol is close to optimal for the platform.

I'd love to actually rent one at the range and compare it to my MechTech (which I love and don't ever plan to sell), just to see how much difference there is. $1600 is a steep price to upgrade unless I know for sure how much better it is, thought a 12" model would be very enticing.
"The meek shall inherit the Earth" is a mistranslation. Properly translated it would say: "Those who have swords and know how to use them, but keep them sheathed, shall inherit the Earth". Carry every day.

I'm thinking about putting a sling on mine and carrying it with me when fly fishing, as I live in the Idaho panhandle and there are Grizzlies where I fish.

For me, the only reason why I don't shoot it more is the ammo cost over 9mm. But, that is now a moot point. My local store, BLACK SHEEP SPORTING GOODS is now selling 9mm for $20 per 50. And they are out of stock on all 9mm.
But the DO HAVE BLAZER & FEDERAL 180 FMJ BRASS CASE for the same price. :o
Unfortunately, they have a 100 RND PER PERS/ PER DAY limit. I just put my purchase in my truck, went back in, got another 100 and went to a different cashier. Ended up with 6 boxes. I'll probably go back a few time this week.

Put a quick-release on that sling...

The chances of running into a grizzly while fishing = next to zero.
The chances of drowning while fishing = pretty good.
