I would order one tomorrow if they had greater than 8 round capacity. With that little cap, I may as well get a 1911 long slide.

No sir, I honestly thought the capacity would bother me, until I got it. It really is an amazing piece. I've shot a 1006 and a Delta Elite, and to me, the Sig P220 is an improvement on both of them.

I don't have the Legion, and I won't, because Sig is really promoting "Brand Snobs" with that Legion Members only crap. It's the same gun I have now, with a "Legion Cerakote". My P220 Elite makes me very happy.

Do I wish Sig built the 10 on the 227 ? YES! But still, love this gun.

I wish they had started with the 227 platform as well.  IMHO this is a matter of not understanding the 10mm buyer demographic.  In other calibers such as 45, 40 and 9mm, a buyer would be unlikely to consider this gun for carry.  It would be a range and field gun, functions where capacity is of diminished importance.

We 10mm folk are used to lugging around big beasts.  Even a Glock 29 is a pretty heavy gun when fully loaded with a Pearce grip extension.  And it is very much a Glock 19 profile size and a fair bit thicker.  And many of us EDC full size guns.  As I type this I am carrying a Witness full-size and a back-up magazine with a 140mm base for an additional 3-4 rounds.  I think I have 19 rounds in there.  Good belts need only apply to keep my pants up.  The idea of a large frame hi-cap for EDC work doesn't phase us.

Here is what is driving me nuts.  The TFB coverage of the Legion 10mm SAO includes not one, but two pictures of non-10mm P220's.

I really think that the group who carries a 10mm for self defense is a very, very small one.

I have belonged to a large private gun club for 35 years and nearly all of them carry and I do not know  a single person who carries a 10.

This is not bear country and some hunt with them but I know of no one, even LEO, who carries a 10.

Graybeard

I've carried a couple of my 10mms as SD guns, not often, but under certain conditions. Especially since Michigan passed a law that anyone with a Concealed Pistol License or any hunting license can shoot feral hogs on public or private property any time of the year.

Heck, I've even been carrying my XDM 10 for dog walking duty since I'm breaking in a new leather pancake holster. It actually carries quite well with a Galco gun belt.

No idea what the overall numbers are....  However, a bunch of people here carry them for self defense.
In my neck of the woods it's not rare to come across people carrying 10mm from time to time.

I carry my 10mm from time to time but it's not my primary edc.

I carried my 29 exclusively for 3 years. As SQL said, weight, bahh ,who cares! I do, absolutely  love this P220, but the 4.4" P227 in 10mm would be a PERFECT SD pistol!

I'm actually talking to Heine sights now, about making us P220 guys a battle sight to replace the large, sharp, and cumbersome adjustable rear sights. They've been making then for 1911's for years! My 10mm has a night sight front, would be nice to have the rear as well. I'm thinking an optic plate style thing, with a rear sight screwed on through the bottom (like the M17). We will see, I've pitched my idea to three different manufacturers.

Have been looking at the P220 hunter for a few months now, but gosh, I'm really starting to like the  new P220 Legion 😀

The 220 in 10mm was path of least engineering

Sig had stainless frame 220. The 227 is alloy only to my knowledge. Sure they could have done it, but they would have to do structural modeling on stresses of new frame.
Early on I was expecting variations on 220 like 4.4" and carry in 3.9. But no such luck.

We will see 320 in 10mm or nothing from Sig. IMHO

I own 2 SIQ 10MM pistols. The SIQ P-220 Elite Hunter 10MM is a SA. It is
a very nice heavy 10MM. I have never owned a SIQ "Through Bred" Legion.
