Picked up a few boxes of Blazer Brass 10mm 180gr fmj,
got home and examined it, realized their small primer and crimped.
First SP 10mm I've seen.
Also, think they are plated and not true jacketed,
box has warning not to use in ported barrel or comp.
Usually, that's a plated bullet warning.

BEEMER!

I have been told that all Blazer and the cheap red box Federal ammos are plated and not jacketed bullets.

Even the Speer Gold Dots are a plated jacket and then swaged to form the bullet and HP.

It's a pretty cool technology Speer uses to make their awesome products 😊

Speer Gold Dots are not typical plated bullets like Xtreme or Berrys.
I've pushed GDHP to the limits of the cartridge in 10mm, .357 and 44 magnum.
"Regular" plated like Xtreme and Berrys can't handle those velocities.
Raining today, hope to get these Blazer plated to the range this weekend.

AFAIK, Gold Dots are "bonded," not plated.

What's the difference?  Dunno, but GDs definitely perform better than mere "plated" bullets at high velocities.

Johnnyreloader

Has to do with the 'process' of getting copper onto lead.
Gold Dot uses some kind of proprietary process that bonds the two metals,
others use a pricess that limits speed of bullet because plating will rip off at high velocity.

I have fired about a box and a half of 200 grain aluminum Blazer through my ported Kimber. So far without issue.

Edit: I just checked the CCI website. They gave the ported barrel warning only for Blazer Brass, and not for aluminum Blazer.

For what it's worth I bought a box of 155gr Hornady XTP 10mm and they're SP as well.

What's the trade-off using SPP in the 10mm?

I don't see a downside, frankly I think the 10mm should be SP anyways.   For reloaders I guess the one negative would be having to sort brass.

For me reloading, SP in 10mm is probably going to be loaded with AA#9.
That powder seems to like an SP Magnum primer.
But Longshot with WLP is my go to for 10mm, CCI LP Magnum for loads at high end.
