For what you get, the price on these is a steal. With a coned barrel, FL guide rod, Ambi safety, added flared magwell, skelotonized hammer, beavertail, and adj trigger IMO it's a real winner.

At the range it ran like a clock right out of the box... not a single bobble, and the trigger has a bit of typical 1911 pre-travel but is crisp at 4 lbs, not a hair of over travel. The girth is wide, wider than my Tanfo, but it holds 16 without a +2 pad that would be a $25 add on (if you can find them) with Tanfo.

I bought mine a few days ago and since drop in barrels for a .40 are so inexpensive I'll get one of those too.

I do wish they would have provided two mags and lifted the VERY fair (~$725) retail price a bit. For now I'll use the one it came with and diddle with my Para P-16 10/40 mag to try and get it to work.

Overall I'm a happy camper and surprised more haven't jumped on this one.

I've been thinking real hard on either this or the GP-100 in 10mm
Decisions decisions !
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

I too have been looking at these. Its on my short list along with a STACCATO C2 2011.

For my part, once the security six trigger mechanism went away in favor of the GP, that decision would be a no-brainer for me... 1911 by any make, any day.

Anyway,

Update on the made in Canada P-16 10/40 mag.

I slathered some Dykem blue on the mag housing above the release latch cut, and the trigger is rubbing against it just a hair and not enough to affect the trigger returning fully forward. The micrometer showed the mag is .015" wider there and rather than take metal off of the nickle plated mag, I'm going to leave it as is, the drag is not enough to diddle with it.

As far as the feed issue with the P16 mag goes, it failed with some JHP's it's not an issue with my home cast powder coated bullets which feed like butter. Case closed.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the day I got it I took it to the range and shot it straight out of the box without cleaning the gunk RIA puts on it NOR did I lube it. The loads I used were max .40 loads (entry level 10 loads) and the gun cycled perfectly despite the VERY heavy recoil and mainsprings. Also the slide to frame fit is tight and the bbl link has zero play. Fitting expected by a high end maker, exceptional and unexpected at this price.

So is the Rock Island Armory wide body 10mm the same as the Rock Ultra full size HC 10mm? As the flailed mag well on mine certainly makes it a wide body in my opinion...love that pistol

Thanks Gary, I'm pretty sure my Rock Ultra full size HC  is one of the best value pistols that I have bought 😀
