BEEMER!

#15
I have the good safe but my dog died.

My idea on insurance may be different than some.  I have never spent a dime on a gun that I think I would need in a short period of time.  If all my guns disappeared it would not change my way of life except for recreation and hobby time.  None of them would need to be replaced immediately for life to continue.

Now if my house, my car, or, my truck were lost, they would need to be replace immediately for my life to go on.  Those items need insured to the fullest.

In my opinion, gun insurance premiums are way to high for the amount of risk I have.  I have spent far less money on the security system I had installed.  JMO

Gun insurance when shopped properly is cheap. I pay $3.50 per $1,000 of coverage. I see my guns the same as any other investment and they are worth protecting just like my other assets.

It is also important to know, which I am sure that Beemer and Mike D do, but many do not....

Your homeowners policy covers firearms, but usually only up to about $2,500.  I you own one or two or maybe even three guns, you should be fine. If you have more, then you need to pay for additional coverage.  Contact you agent if you have concerns.

BEEMER!

I have some insurance, just not complete coverage.  I guess that it boils down to risk tolerance.  Sure your Banks deposits are covered, probably your life if you are the bread winner, house and cars, but not much else.

The bulk of my assets are tied up in securities and if risk bothered me I would be crying right now.

Yeah I have the standard coverage on my homeowner's (because it's included) but all of my guns/ammo/accessories are covered by a separate policy at the rate I mentioned earlier.

Sir I would respectfully suggest finding a good firearm museum to display them in.

Proper history and documentation and such, and it would likely take care of the insurance issue.

Your collection deserves to be admired.
"The meek shall inherit the Earth" is a mistranslation. Properly translated it would say: "Those who have swords and know how to use them, but keep them sheathed, shall inherit the Earth". Carry every day.

Yea, but I bet you'd still cry a little bit if they disappeared or get destroyed; I know I would!
