Had to buy some small pistol mag primers out of desperation yesterday to keep reloadind 9mm for friends. I feel the old rule of thumb was to lower the powder one or two tenths of a grain to keep the charge about the same. I am loading very light anyway so safety isn't an issue but would just like to know everyone's opinion. Craig

You'll be just fine Craig...if you had a chronograph you would be able to measure the difference.  Maybe 35 fps greater with the SP mag primer using the same load.

Thanks Wade!! I knew it was not an issue until you got real close to max. I just wanted to get close to what I was loading with standard primers. I could only get 400 so they will be gone quick and I have another show August 1 to find other standard primers. Thanks again for the quick response.  Craig

Well just finished the first 100 Federal mag primers and all went OK. The only difference is that the primers seem to "pop" in a little different feel than my Winchester primers. Other than that all is good.  Craig
