March 2020 appears to be the most "Users Online" ever for this form, by a rather wide margin.  Specifically March 13, 2020, although we posted record numbers throughout March.

Gonna guess this is folks that are sheltering in place and looking for something to read.

Post counts and new topics stayed at normal rates, so most of the users were just "lurking".

Hope you all stay safe!

I have been posting links to the forum on several of the 10mm FB groups and to others looking for or have 10mm interest.
That too may have brought several here too! :D

The Rohrbaugh Forum is also a 'Simple Machines' Forum which has very little traffic as the guns are not made any more.  It can go several days at a time with no posts.

Their traffic was way up this winter and I posted a question "What is going on?"

The owner and moderator answered it was a huge influx of Search Robots invading the forum.  It has subsided somewhat now.

Bad reason but I am glad the forum has enabled readers to occupy their time.

And if you don't own a 10mm, you won't regret the purchase of one.  8)

Or, maybe all the Chinese hackers are sheltering in place and have time to turn their focus here. ;D

Scanning the source IP's, about 2/3's of them are from Asia/Pac right now.

Kenk

Yep, sounds about right, at Cargill most of our failed attacks are from that region

So...wouldn't it make sense to block access to this sight from those regions? Does the Asia/Pac or Equatorial Africa or Middle East or former Eastern Block communities really have anything to add to a discussion on 10mm firearms?

That's not a racist thing at all. I just don't understand why this sight is even viewable to regions with nothing to add other than malware, spyware, and spam.

sqlbullet

So far we have had no reports of malware being passed through the site.  The spam is pretty minimal as well.

Blocking from those regions is far more problematic that you might expect.  We certainly could blacklist entire ranges of IP's, but those could be circumvented easily by a script-kiddie by using a commercial VPN or proxy.  And it would negatively impact members that are trying to post from those regions.   I am among those members since I travel to Asia-Pac about 6-8 weeks a year for work.  Or I used to before Covid-19.

I never thought the spammers were too bad here. over on the 300BlkTalk forum some times the whole opening page will be spam. usually selling fake Euro passports and fake I.D. sometimes its nothing but Asian looking writing. >:(
