The hunter drew and two tapped the bear at full charge.

First shot definitely CNS. Second shot probably the same.

This is why deep penetration is important. I have heard some say the round only needs to drive deep enough to penetrated the skull. In this case the shooter missed the head and still the bullet had enough penetration to hit the spine.

The first shot took the bear in the chest. It penetrated the right lung, through the chest cavity, and broke the spine.
