I have been in the market for a CZ-75, High Power or clone of them since my oldest daughter selected my High Power as her 21st birthday gun.  Recently classic arms notified me that they had some Jericho 941F's in stock that were Isreali police trade-ins:

As you can see, the gun came in pretty rough.  This was fine with me as I had always planned on stripping it down, sandblasting it, parkerizing it and then cerakoting it.  However, the EOTWAWKI bare metal patina is interesting, so I wondered about clear coating it for rust prevention.

What are the opinions here.  Refurb it back to a new look or just preserve the patina?

Personally, I would preserve it. This weapon has a ton of character

If it was really expensive or historically significant, I'd preserve it. Since it's really not, I'd say make it your own. Bead blast it and black chrome would be really cool. I would worry about losing all the markings with cerakote over parkerizing.

Just my 2 cents.

I've got 2 of the Baby Eagles that are supposed to be the same gun. Mine were bought pre 2008 when the safety was moved on the BE's. Both of mine have extremely great triggers and both think they are match target pistols with the right ammo. If the gun you have were mine, it would stay just like it is. Doing anything to the finish is denying the guns history and character. About the only thing I would suggest is a good set of rubber grips. IMI has a few accessories for them.

Personally I love the look just keep it oiled up and carry it. Looks awesome don't change anything.

Thanks for the feedback.  I think, at least for now, it stays.

I have refinished several other handguns with cerakote over park.  Doesn't fill in markings at all, even really shallow ones.  In fact, in one case I wish it would have filled in a little better as some surface defects still show through.

If the below is the same weapon, that's a really good price : )

I spent less on the brushed steel one instead of the chrome.  I thought it was a great deal as well, and have been looking for a surplus CZ clone in 9mm for a while.
