Brand new Sprg. Operator 10mm--FAIL --Accuracy still poor

Now that I've shot this gun several times, with both factory ammo and various handloads, I am not impressed with accuracy.   Seven yard groups look like buckshot patterns as big as a coffee saucer.  For what these cost, it should be much better.

I've been away from the forum too long and obviously never had anything of value to post... Until this thread...Apparently your issue isn't an isolated one...My TRP 10mm has done this from day one... Mostly with MagTech 180 GR, but it will do it with S&B as well... As in your case, if I clean the crap out of it, then it works...for the first 50 rounds or so. Then the FTRB issues begin again..... I haven't bothered to send it back to Springfield (though I should have) so I keep it as my range gun only. I have a Rock Island TAC Ultra that eats everything (After replacing the slide stop with an Ed Brown) and runs with no issues...So its my EDC...

Agree 100% that at this price point this shouldn't be occurring. I even gave some thought to having the chamber reamed but it does pass the plunk test (however scientific that may be) so Ill wait for someone else to fight this battle.

Called Sprg customer service;  they sent a free shipping label;  she's going back tomorrow.

Hope you get it back and it runs like it should. Will be waiting to hear what they say.

This worries me as my buddy just picked one up last week..hasn't shot it yet

Man that's frustrating!!!! I've only had to send one gun back and it was a pain.

Those things are at the same price point as Dan Wesson which isn't exactly cheap. That sucks.

Sprg. is sending it back to me.   Got a phone call from them:   they test fired it, can't make it any more accurate.

They suggested that it was shooter error.   I doubt it, considering that when I shoot my Smith 629 I make raggedy holes at 7 yards;  the Operator makes four or five inch "patterns."   And the cheapo
Brazilian Springfield 1911 in .45 ACP shoots much better groups than the Operator.

Maybe I should get a barrel and replace it myself?

Shooter error my azz. One well known company said this to my friend and range buddy.

Translated..."We cant figure out how to fix it, so we will go with operator error..."   >:(

Impressive customer service..

You might consider getting a reamer for the chamber or having it done by a 'smith... If that doesn't work, then Id say new barrel would be the next step..

I said screw it and bought a Tanfoglio from IFG.

Shot it again today.    Ammo was:

Sig 180 grain FMJ
RP 180 grain FMJ
180 grain hardcast over 13.0 grains AA9

Poor accuracy.    They fixed the reliability problem but have given up on accuracy.    I'm $1800 poorer but wiser.

I cannot recommend the TRP 10mm from Springfield.     It's fun to shoot but won't hit anything.

Did your SA improve in the months?

Wish that I'd found this thread a week ago. I have a 6" TRP showin up tomorrow.
