Muzzle Energy; Advertised:  484 ft. lbs.

Brass Make/Head Stamp: StarLine 40 S&W

Actual Weight:  179.7 grs.
Crimp diameter: .4208"
C.O.A.L.:  1.128"
Primer: brass color
Case: Brass
Powder Description/Positive ID/Type/Charge Weight: Flattened Ball; 6.4grs.

I can get as much as 1150 fps from 8.0grs. Longshot with 180gr bullets in 40 S&W, and I got 1083 fps with 6.4grs WSF.

The primer on the outside looks like a Winchester primer, but the inside charge is basically the same color as the anvil.  Winchester primer charge is either green or red depending if it is a WSPM or WSP.  This primer did not look like either one.

WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

This appears to be CFE Pistol powder and seems to fit the velocity profile as well.
180 GR. BERB FP Hodgdon   CFE Pistol 6.5 grains @ 1,092 fps 32,600 PSI

180 GR. HDY XTP Hodgdon   CFE Pistol 6.0 grains @ 1,051 fps  32,200 PSI

The powder looks VERY similar to the powder from the S&W Outdoorsman HC-FN 200 gr std pressure that I pulled down recently. 5.5 gr rated at 1000 fps, although I haven't collected chrony data.

It matched none of the handgun/shotshell powder that I had onhand (I don't have CFE Pistol).

Taterhead, that powder looks like Longshot and that Longshot may actually be what is in RDub's BB loading as well.  Have seen DT use Longshot in his 40S&W load as well.

Shadow, That was my first thought (geat minds think alike!), so I compared it to LS (side-by-side). They were definitely different. LS granules were noticeably larger, more irregular, and the color was a different shade. So it was easy to rule out LS.

Of the flattened spherical powders, I also looked at WSF, Silhouette, 231, No. 5, and I'm probably forgetting one or two. No matches.

HS6 could be similar but 5.5 grains is only 810 fps @ 27,000 psi with the 200 XTP and 6.3 makes 900 fps @ 32,800 psi
