Post this on the Glock ID forum but thought I would post it here as well:

Glock 40 MOS Impressions Part 2

GID friends, I was able to get to the range range for part 2 of my new G40 testing and evaluation. My impressions are as follows:

I deliberately didn't clean the gun after my first range session with it. Because it is a long slide gun, I wanted the parts to mate together for one more firing session before I broke it down for cleaning. Yes...I know it's a Glock and not a high dollar 1911, but it didn't hurt anything so why not. I also wanted to test the gun running dirty, which it did absolutely fine.

Ammo...I fired several different types of full power and medium power ammo.

The 125 grain Team Never quit, which is loaded to 1450 feet per second, seemed like shooting a 9mm out of the big G40. It ran very well in the gun and I believe would not be a bad load at all for two legged predators. This is especially so where ricochet is a concern, as the TNQ hollowpoint is frangible.

I also fired various loads / weights of Underwood 10mm ammo (you know my favorite). We fired 155 grain fmj, 165 grain fmj, and 180 grain fmj. To me, as well as my friend Will who also has a G40, the 165 grain Underwood felt the hottest. These are all great loads, but we liked the 165 grain the best. Recoil was manageable with all of them with the heavy G40 slide.

We then fired some Buffalo Bore 180 grain jhp I had picked up at Cabelas and compared them to the Underwood 180 grain. I personally thought the Buffalo Bore felt a little hotter. Will thought the Underwood felt hotter. As we kept shooting I put both brands on the same mag and fired for comparison. To me, and this might sound a little crazy, individual loads of each type felt hotter than others. In other words, I think the powder loads varied from round to round in each brand, making comparison almost a moot point as different bullets within the same brand were being launched faster or slower as the powder load varied. This may be an unfair distinction to try and make I know. But...I have been shooting 10mm Glocks since 2011 and have a pretty good feel for the power of individual loads by now. Or at least I think I do...

Will really liked the Buffalo Bore for both power and accuracy. And he is a huge Underwood fan save for their prices.

We fired some PMC 200 grain ammo which wasn't bad at all. It made for a decent practice load. Will wants to buy some more for the price. The one thing i did not like about the PMC was the excessive muzzle flash, even with the six inch barrel.

I fired some Lehigh Defense 115 grain Extreme Defender. This is a nice load in 10mm. Not quite as hot as the Underwood version but still seemed like a solid load and was more controllable. Will liked this load also.

The G40 point of impact was slightly to the left for me. We nudged the rear sight over a tad and it seems fine now. Another shooting session will firm this up.

I think that about wraps it up for now. The G40 is a phenomenal pistol which tames the 10mm recoil and has great accuracy to boot. Will thinks is underrated, We shall see how popular the G40 become over time. It seems like quite a few of our GID friends already own the G40.

Thanks for listening..

Thanks for sharing your review here.  I'd like to see companies make a few conversion chamberings for the G-40.  In particular one chambered for 357Sig, as they will interchange with the G-20's.  Having the G-20 with various barrels and conversions has shown it to be great all around 10mm as well.

I agree. .357 Sig conversion barrel would be great in the G40.
