Hello all,

New here, from Vegas. Recently got into the 10mm, and there's no turning back. I'm a big CZ guy for pistols, but never broke down and got a DW 10mm tho I had considered it in the past. Last month I came across a Rock Ultra Double Stack that I couldn't pass up. Liked it so much I started researching my next 10mm purchase, and ending up buying TWO Springfield XDM 10's 4.5" (one for me and one for my father) We are absolutely loving the Springfields and the cartridge itself. (The Rock is great too, but is having a multitude of FTF's, thought it may be magazine related, but the bottom shelf of the feed ramp is pretty chewed up and uneven, so may try and smooth that out to see if it solves the issue — otherwise, great gun, loads of fun to shoot). They have inspired me to dig out the old RCBS and buy a new shell holder and die set. Looking forward to trying my hand with some handloads for these wonderful guns.

I've been using Magtech 180's for range fodder, and have tried nearly every offering from Underwood. I'm a big fan of their entire lineup, and am especially fond of the Range ammo line 180's that come in the 50 box, what a hoot to shoot!! We took them all to the indoor range today and had so much fun (way too hot out for a desert trip).

Love the site, so much wonderful information here. Happy to be here with you all, and excited to learn more about this great cartridge from everyone.

Cheers!

Welcome and congrats on your new 10mm aquisitions!

Best regards!

Welcome to the Forum Sango and congratulations on your new firearms.  I am very fond of the 10mm as well.  The Underwood is a little too expensive for me for range use but the have excellent products, I typically use the 180 gr. Seller and Bellot I can usually find for $239 a case

Thanks for the welcome fellas! The 10mm is right up my alley, I feel kind of like "why haven't you tried this sooner", but at least I know now how much I enjoy it.  :D

Bunny, that's a great price on the S&B's, I'll have to try them out! I gave $300 shipped or right at that for the Magtechs, I'll have to give the S&B 180's a look, have always loved their 124's in the 9mm world. They make quality stuff (know them and Magtechs are very similar, same parent company I believe just Czech vs Argentina)

Welcome aboard.

Regarding the issues with the Rock, I would say skip to the end and contact RIA about it.  They have provided excellent support to other members here who have had FTF issues with their 1911's.  Especially if it is having issues with S&B, I would say something is seriously wrong with internal geometry on the gun.  If you were having the issues with hot handloads or Underwood, then I would head down the path of +10% mag springs, flat bottom firing pin stop, but it should run S&B level ammo easily.

Good luck!

Sango, Welcome to the forum!  Being from Vegas you gambled on the 10 and won!  ;D  LOL!  Do contact RIA to see if they will fix you issues...
Magtec is one company that makes its own powders, and I haven be able to find much info with regards to their powders.
Best regards and enjoy the forum!

Thank you fellas for the advice and for the awesome site and the wealth of information you all share! I could read the handloading subforum front to back, and never get enough.

I have reached out to Rock on the FTF issue. I too, love that firearm.

My Rock was received by Armscor today for a checkup on the feed ramp issues, also got to get the XDM our for a session at the indoor range, LOVE this firearm and this cartridge. Got a new sticker for the sticker wall in today, thought you all would enjoy  :))
