So far I have one 10mm, a Glock 40 MOS with a Trijicon RM07 and various other mods. I carry this in the woods when it is not hunting season.

I have a Lone Wolf Alpha Wolf threaded barrel for it, but it needs to be fitted.
Next I want a Glock 29 Gen 4 to carry and backup the G40. Then a 1911 of some sort in 10mm. I think the Springfield Armory TRP 10mm Longslide with RMR would do nicely.

Sounds like you got it covered.  My next 10mm will be a G40.

It's way more accurate than I am. I use 200 gr. Underwood XTP's and they will shoot into 6" @ 30 yds, but past that I really suck. The gun could do it, I cannot..... :(
I like heavy for caliber rounds. I have heard of a 200 grain Gold Dot, but have not seen them yet.

Thanks. I went on Ammoseek and found a bunch of it as well. I also found it a the local Cabela's for almost $30/20. WTF!?!  :o That's over $10 more than I found it online for.
I will order some at a later date to test.

Ramjet

I really like mine added a 7" bbl and this thing with the RMR shoots fantastic and is easy to carry in my DD chest rig. Great gun and shoots fantastic.

I was shooting my G40 from the bench the other day after polishing the ramp and chamber on the new Lone Wolf barrel. It was shooting into 3" at 25 yards, with the Underwood 200 grain XTP's, which will take a deer all day long. I will continue to work to find which load shoots the best.
After doing more research, I find that alot of people shoot 180 grain loads for deer, and save the 200's for bigger or more dangerous game.
Sig V-Crown 180's have a good reputation and are reasonably priced. I want to try the Federal Trophy Bonded 180 as well, but they are really expensive here. Luckygunner has some good reading on their experiments page.

Yes most any quality JHP could bring down a deer with in a reasonable distance with good shot placement.  However understand that incapacitation can take as much as 6 minutes if they just bleed out from a blood loss.  Getting both lungs and damaging the heart usually pretty quick but they can still cover some distance.  I like the 200XTP and actually have some 200 grain Gold Dots handloaded as well to hunt with.   :D

Thanks for your reply. Being predominantly a bowhunter, I always try for a broadside shot to get both lungs. I have killed several deer with a shotgun as well, but I feel like I can cheat a little on a quartering shot because of the power of the 12 gauge slug. I have never gotten a deer with a handgun so it is nice to hear from people with experience with that. I bought the G40 specifically to deer hunt with when Indiana legalized 10mm for deer 2 years ago. I will treat the pistol the same as archery and wait for a good broadside shot and probably will not shoot farther than 25 yards.
I did some more searching and found that the Federal Trophy Bonded is out because it is not a hollowpoint. Indiana requires a hollowpoint to hunt with a handgun. There is a 200 gr. Nosler load from Underwood, as well as the Gold Dot, along with several good 180's to try. I really enjoy shooting the 10mm, so shopping for new loads to try will be fun. One of these days I will start handloading and roll my own.

I brought down a doe last season with a 200gr Underwood XTP out of my G29. She jumped like she was going to run, went about 15 yards and piled up. Complete pass through.
