I received some Underwood 135, and 155 grain ammo for my 10mm autos, so had to go to the range in the name of science. I took the Ruger 1911 10mm and the EAA Witness polymer P compact. I left the Tanfoglio Stock II at home since we all already know it handles everything without issue.

I ran a few mags of Armscor first, just to remind me of what it feels like, then proceeded to the Underwood. As you would expect, the Underwood was exhilarating in comparison. The Underwood was loud, and proud, and I loved every overspent dollar on it. A RSO commented on the noise I was making, but he's also a big 10mm fan. The Underwood also seemed to be way more accurate than the Armscor stuff, but through the Ruger 1911, both were similarly accurate at 25 yards. The EAA Witness compact did great with the 135 grain Underwood stuff, and I would trust it for a carry option. I didn't see any signs of wear nor abuse after going through the Underwood stuff. Comforting, if you ask me. Plus, the Compact had zero cycling or going into battery from a weak spring issue, so I guess my mod to the slide worked well. I couldn't be more pleased with the results!

Will I conceal carry the Compact EAA Witness 10mm now? Hell yes, if the need arises. I have no issues with trusting its reliability as a self defense arm. I hope I never have to prove myself wrong!

Nice. How did the Ruger handle the Underwood? Did you fire both loads though it?

The Ruger 1911 was awesome. I hate that it's just an an 8+1 option, but man, it shoots so well. I only shot some Armscor, then 20 rounds of the Underwood 155 grain stuff through it. Not a single hiccup, and it felt great. Boy, you could really feel the difference! The 155 grain is my favorite option from Underwood and have shot many rounds of it through my Stock II without issue. It's kinda pricey, but that's ok for carry ammo. Potent and reliable, so hard to beat.

Thanks for the review and update.

Underwood is the only 10mm ammo I shoot or carry. I don't see any point in the other factory brands that water down the 10mm. When I retired I sold off my Sig P229 Stainless Elite .40 and moved up to several 1911 10mm pistols. The watered down 10mm that most factory 10mm companies make amount to nothing better than the weak .40 S&W ammo that I went away from. It would be like buying a .357 magnum and only carrying .38 Special rounds.

I have Uw for 9mm, 40sw, 10mm and 9x25 Dillon. They're good ammo. I carry Uw 10mm 200 XTP in my G29.

I also have Hornady 10mm CD 175 FlexLock in stock. Not as powerful as Uw but reliable and easier to shoot.
How powerful is 10mm? Well, see those craters on the moon?
