After much thinking and debating, 1911, and/or 10MM (didn't have either, so it was two-for-one), decided to get a Rock Island Ultra FS 10MM. I wanted a High Capacity, but was unable to find, so settled on a standard. I picked it up from my LLC, took it home and de-oiled! I like the feel but grips felt a little aggressive. As I wasn't feeling that great that week, took it out Friday afternoon just to run a box of PMC 200gn. (box says 1050 fps)(all I had) through it. Did very well with the exception of grips BITE, brass is thrown 25-30 feet, and left a brass mark on the slide. Have read about this, and ordered a flat bottom Firing Pin Stop. After some fitting, very little change! Not noticeably!

Picked up some more bullets, Georgia Arms 180gn, (listed at1100 fps, measured at 1150 fps), and with a new spare mag. AND a new Wilson Combat '9', ran another 50 through it after a long session shooting 357 Mags. Well, VERY rough on the hands! I had ordered a Hague grip and some other panels (rubber) which installed the rubber panels for now, and better. Other wise everything ran as it should, NO problems (other then chasing brass). Very happy with it so far. Got some "Defender" ammo, says 1100 fps, measured at 1060, noticeable difference then the GA. Will find some 'full power' shortly (200 gn), finish breaking it in, and enjoy. Not looking for the 'HOT", but better then this!

As far as fit and finish, for the price, very happy! A few sharp edges.

I think it is going to be fun reloading for this one! But need to keep it factory for the first couple hundred rounds. Thinking some 200 or 220 gn. Have ordered some Extreme 165 & 180 Heavy plated (for practice rounds)

Just bought an ultra FS and am very pleased with what you get for 600 bucks. There is no noticeable tooling marks and the stamp on the barrel is better than older RIA's . I like the VZ grips, then again im a plumber so my hands are used to sharp, hot, rough, surfaces, to each their own. I have had 2 FTF but they were light jams before the feed ramp, im betting its the mag, have ordered 2 wilson mags which is the way to go, 1 more round! I dont know, a high capacity 10 sounds good but if 9+1 cant get er done i would want my AR. As for hot ammo i have been running it before the 500 round mark and i dont think thats a pre-requisite for break in, the FTF was with American Eagle 180gr lite's. For the brass marks on the slide i use JB's bore paste to lightly rub off the marks and it works. Good luck with your Rock ultra, i really dig mine, and am very happy with the purchase.
