I don't really know why or what Gen it is. It makes me wonder if that's what brought the trade about.

I also wonder what ammo he was using, and what springs the gun had.  I kinda am guessing the previous owner went nuclear on the springs for Underwood class ammo, and that this guy is running Blazer or Federal Hydra-shoks.

From the look of the recoil I'd say weak 10mm lite ammo.

I have had the same malfunction with some Freedom Munitions 180 gr hp's, and some 180 gr hp hand loads(warm load).  At first, I thought it was the +2 on the magazine, but when I tried a plain ole' 10 round magazine with the same ammunition -- same failure. Then I thought it was the Lonewolf barrel, installed stock barrel -- same failure. I have other hollowpoints that work fine. My G29 only had 50 rounds through it when I purchased it last year. To date, it's over 300 and counting.

What needs to be investigated with that type of FTF is the magazine follower, spring and feed lips and also the part of the slide that shoves the cartridge forward toward the chamber.  I have seen double stack magazines where cartridges rattle when fully loaded, if you experience this condition unload the magazine and reload it.  Then tap the magazine so all cartridges are stacked and the case heads are to the back of the magazine.

The top cartridge slides forward in the magazine under recoil, this can be due to other rounds sticking as the follower and spring try to push up the cartridges.  Take the magazine apart clean the inside of the mag body, inspect the follower for any damage.  With the follower in place on the spring check for smooth travel up and down.  I use ArmorAll sparingly to coat the magazine interior, wipe it dry, this reduces friction of the follower travel.  I have found a magazine that had the spring backwards inside the magazine, so look for that situation.

If magazines get dropped or stepped on the feed lips could get damaged or bent.  If one is higher than the other the cartridge can feed at an odd angle.  But understand as the cartridge is sliding forward there is a point where it is no longer guided by the feed lips.  During recoil the cartridge can rock over to jam up..."Limp Wrist"  the twisting of the wrist under recoil.  Practice keeping the recoiling firearm steady as you can.

During one test of ammo that a member sent me that he experienced jams in his G-20. I loaded various mags and got some strange looks while testing those rounds.  I shot several straight up, several gun tilted sideways gangsta style left and right and even with the gun turned upside down ejection port pointing downward.  These we tested with factory and Wolff non captive recoil springs.

The best way to get to know your equipment is to inspect and study the function.

As an avid Glock shooter, I can say with almost 100% certainty is it because he is pushing the full length G20 magazine with the heel of his hand.

He has big hands, and notice the malfunction did not occur with the standard G29 magazine.

They make a spacer for the 9mm and 40 cal Glock mags, so you can shoot the full size magazine in the baby Glock. I don't know if they make one for the G29 / G20 mags.

Yes they make 20mag to 29 spacers. 2 companies make them.
