Local store has one of these in stock. Going back to inspect it more in depth.  I have read that it has a ramped barrel, not sure of how much case support is present.  Any idea if this could handle 10mm load if the barrel was reamed to 10mm?  and does anyone know of a smith capable of performing this task? Considering this because I have something to trade and probably the only way to get close to what I want.
Thanks, Nelson

Most any gunsmith should be able to ream it.  A ramped barrel will provide better support than most unramped barrels.

The barrel will be fine with 10mm.  The difference in MAP between 40 and 10mm is only about 7% in the hottest ammo.  For most ammo you run the difference is negligible.

The slide will experience a much stronger impulse with 10mm, resulting in higher slide velocity.  In max loads, this impulse is about 45% higher looking at 180 grain Underwood velocities in 10mm and 40 S&W.  This higher slide velocity is what you need to deal with.

I would suggest either and 18.5 lb recoil spring, a flat bottom firing pin stop and a 25 lb mainspring or, less desirably a 22-24 lb recoil spring with the stock FPS and mainspring.  The second option is less desirable as it places increased stress on the slide stop pin, barrel link and barrel link pin as the slide returns to battery at a higher velocity due to the higher spring rate.

sql- that is what I wanted to hear.  I kind of thought it would need to have the springs upgraded, forgot about the fps.  Know of any smiths that stock a 10mm reamer?

Nope.  In fact, I found a local smith in SLC that did good work and I bought the reamer.   It was $80 back then:

Looks like they are $85 now.

I now have a good bit of credit at his shop as he has used it from time to time on other folks guns.  Each time I get $10 credit.  Seems like I am up to about the price I paid for the reamer.   Mars Guns did the work:  http://marsguns.com/

Unfortunately I think my gunsmith in SLC is about 1300 miles too far for you to consider ;)
