Been looking around for real data in regards to actual velocity in the G29 platform with the factory length. If I am shooting UW 220HC what verlocity would it be at?  I was going to sell my G29 but now figure I will keep it but may loom into a KKM extended barrel if the actual velocity from the stock barrel is low

In many of my test I have found the velocity of my G-29 to be with in 65 to 110 fps of my S&W 1006 5"...
This can vary by powder type, the faster powders like 800X and Power Pistol show less and slower powders Blue Dot and AA#9 show more differences.

Seeing those numbers, I would bet those were loaded with IMR800X... ::)

What were the advertised velocities???

The Underwood boxes had:

200gr XTP -  1250 ft/s
220gr HC - 1200 ft/s

Funny, the box of 180 XTP did not specify a muzzle speed. My other boxes are at my other place. Their website has 1300 ft/s for the 180gr XTP.

I'm happy with those observed speeds from my G29. Good enough for black bears and barrel chested gang-bangers.

I feel at over 1k fps the 220HC is still a good option for woods carry.

Thanks for the information
