I see this thread is older, but I just saw it.  I have a 2000 Marlin GG.  Love it, small compact and plenty of firepower.  Bought some Garrrett +P 540 gr Hammerheads, rated at 1550 fps.  Shot 2 of them, first out of curiosity, second out of ignorance.

I have one a bit older. Made 1882, but it is the Model 1881. I do have 3 1895's one made 1897,1972,2006. The 2006 is a Cowboy with a 26" barrel. It is almost as long as the 28" 1881 with double set triggers.
