Bought it off a gun smith and it does not like to chamber unless the gun gets hot and in hunting situations it's not very good. The guy said the factory recoil spring was in it so I'm guess its too light? I shoot a mix of super hot hand loads and factory bs ammo. What to do I dont feel like buying a spring right now. I need to diagnose the prob hopefully its the factory stuff that doesnt want to chamber. Bc its getting to be that time I had my first 10mm hunt/deer scouting last weekend tons of fun saw and saw a boone and crocket oldie getting chased by a 10 point. One of them is has to go haha.

What Gen is it? Hopefully someone can help with figuring it out! The Gen 4's seem to be the ones with issues.

Seems to me the spring is too stiff for light factory loads. The increased weight of the slide I imagine would require a lighter spring to function well with lighter loads. I'd also pull it apart an clean/lube the extractor and slide parts.

The actuall factory spring and rod?  It won't work. Needs to be a steel captured rod.  With a flat spring.   Also MUST have the special washer on the end.

I bought a long slide from a guy that could not get it working. All it was, was the washer was not on the rod.  Put the washer on and it great.

Mine with the LW rod and heavy IMS spring didn't function well with lighter loadings. The range I use sells Atlanta Arms for range fodder. With my handloads function was fine. Weaker stuff, not so much.

The screw on the LW guide rod would snag on the pass through hole in the slide.......replaced with a cap head screw and that solved the problem.

You mention 'chambering'....some have had problems withs larger cast bullets fitting the chamber and have had to return the barrels for chamber reaming.
