I have watched many hunting videos and this one may be the worst by far so far!!

That was an example of poor gun choice and shot placement for effective and humane hunting practices...Why?  All because of wanting to film the hunt.  The animal suffered more that it needed to and the multiple shots probably messed up meat that could have been eaten.  Sad!  ???

I agree! I don't know much about Moose hunting but isn't hunting them while bedded illegal? Could it have been shot with a rifle and he had no ammo? If not, this kind of hunting sneaking up on it isn't much of a hunt!

I agree, except probably more of shot placement and/or BULLET choice.  All the shots appeared to be through and through.  At that range, the caliber and power was not the problem.  Perhaps he was trying to save a trophy.  He had several opportunities for a single shot kill and didn't take it.  Either he didn't know, or didn't care.  The first neck shot was lethal (carotid), so it was a matter of time in any case.  His later shots didn't shorten the kill time.

It's hard to tell, but I think the animal was already hit, and bedded down to suffer, while he came in for the kill shot (after a misplaced long shot).  You just don't get away with "sneaking" up on an animal that mature, that close.  They live to that size by NOT being caught in that situation.  You don't get that close to one of the most aggressive, most dangerous animals in N.A. without being the target yourself.

I've hunted all my life.  I would not be proud of this kill.  Ashamed, for sure.

DM1906, I do agree...Just looking at the video posted probably doesn't tell the whole story in this case.  :-[

Absolutely.  They rarely do.  I think theres a whole lot not told.  The video was clipped to only the "shots", no audio, no pre/post-log or description.  A lot of lead thrown down, with abysmal results.  I have a much greater respect for nature to let anything like that happen, if avoidable in any way.  Incidents like this make it much more difficult for those of us trying to do what's right, and PETA would have a field day with this one.... More legislation is what we need...Yeah...That'll fix it... (NOT!)

I don't hunt often.  As a boy/young man we slaughtered our own beef on the farm and I have taken my share of rabbits and squirrel as a kid.  My dad taught me one shot/one kill by giving me a box of shotgun shells and telling me I would get a new shell for every starling I brought back.  It took a little time, but l got to where I didn't buy any ammo to get rid of those pests.  Same with .22 lr.  A rabbit or squirrel cleaned and dressed ready for the pot would get me a single 22 round.

As has been said, there is a lot here we don't know.  Clearly though the hunters first priority was NOT putting the animal down as quickly as possible.

I agree.  I'm not sure the term shameful is strong enough for what I saw.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
