Para/RIA Double Stack Mag Baseplate

I was reliability testing my RIA Rock Ultra HC a few weekends ago and failed to fully seat a magazine.  When I fired the first shot, the magazine fell from the pistol to the deck below.  The impact broke the latch part of the plastic baseplate.  It still functioned, but if I tried to carry this magazine, the baseplate would eventually work loose and dump the spring, follower and ammo from the magazine.

I have looked without success for a replacement flat baseplate. I have a couple of spares from magazines I put +4 extended baseplates on, but just replacing the part with another that has the same weakness as far as breakage doesn't really solve my problem.

Most magazines solve this with a two piece baseplate.  The "inner" plate has a small nub/button, and once the "outer" plate is fully seated, the button engages in a hole and locks the two pieces in place.  I like this system.  Simple and effective, and nothing that is likely to break.  The "nub" has huge sheer strength and is not easily subjected to sheer.

I found a Glock inner plate and with some file work, it fit inside the base of the RIA baseplate.  Locating the hole was the next challenge, but after drilling the correct hole in the outer plate, it installed and appears to work as hoped in bench testing.  I will do some range tests and report back if it solves my problem.

Or you could just get a new mag until you find the parts. I bought mags from them and added the Springer extended base plate.

That insert looks like just the thing.

The ones I have from Glock 20 mags I have added a plus 2 baseplate also work.  When I run out, I will look into these guys.
