Hello - I have both an FK BRNO Field pistol and PSD. For those not familiar, it comes with barrels for 7.5 FK (a 10mm magnum necked to 7.62), 10mm/.40 (same magazine) and a 9mm barrel and new magazines. I'm thinking I'd like to have a 9mm barrel reamed out to 9x25. The 7.5FK is brutal so I know it can take it (and conceivably the 10mm magnum and 9x30). Is it practical to think the 9mm barrel can be reamed appropriately? If so, who do you recommend to the barrel work?

At the moment I am using my G40.4 with Bar-Sto barrel

I'm not sure if Van is still doing the machine work but he did a great job for me several years ago!

Most 9mm's have a 1-10 twist rate while .38 super, .357 Sig, and 9x25 have 1-16 ostensibly to stabilize heavier bullets. If you plan on sticking with typical 9mm bullets of 115-125 as long as you don't drive them too hard you may be all right.

I'm not shooting the 9x25 too long, so some of what I say may be more anecdotal than factual because I haven't chronographed any loads yet and load data for development is skinny out there. I'm being conservative in load development (using .357 Sig data and powder I have on hand to start with) till I can get a handle on velocity vs. performance. Of all the things I do NOT want is keyholing which I've seen in my re-chambered .357 Sig barrel.

That said, my 1911 6" .357 Sig barrel was re-chambered from a 9mm but it doesn't seem to like my 150 grain cast powder coated bullets. Whether that's from the barrel twist, the specific bullet or powder I can't say yet.

Anyway, The 115's I tried were abysmal trying to get a crimp with that 9mm bullet long nose. The Sig and 9x25 REALLY like shorter nosed bullets with a longer base to get a good crimp. My round nose 140 grain cast powder coated bullet is perfect for the Sig and 9x25. Its short nose and long base lend itself to a solid crimp.
