Longcarbine

Just picked up one of these yesterday with the Hex Dragonfly red dot, got it off GB. Paid too much but seems like a really decent pistol, cant wait to take it out.

I am thoroughly impressed with the execution of this CCW 10mm. Incredible trigger optics ready is an awesome feature it makes this weapon very accurate and useable. Interchangeable back straps and capacity of the potent 10mm make it a great defensive weapon. I have been carrying it apex without issues?

Hey everyone! Just ordered mine yesterday (should get it in a few days) and immediately started joining forums.  Found a small dealer who hooked me up for $699+ tax (with Hex) I bought it for carry and for bear defense (infrequent).  My question is, does the XDm hold up firing the heavy stuff? What grain should I look to stay around for bear (Flat nose hardened)? What should I get into for self defense?

Welcome Dreidel3, as for holding up to full power loads, I don?t know why it wouldn?t. For bear protection, Underwood?s 220gr hard cast would foot the bill perfectly

When researching what to buy I had a chance to get a Witness real cheap.  After checking reviews I saw people having problems with the frame cracking under heavy load.  I've also picked up some people talking about adjusting the spring for heavy loads.  Do I have to do this or can I leave it alone and shoot different loads?  I'd like to set my red dot for personal carry ammo but haven't decided on a grain.  Thinking I'd like it to be close to range ammo. I'll look into Underwoods.  Hopefully they are available.

Also, anyone have issues with non-brass casings? Just trying to get a jump on what ammo to buy.

I bought a 10mm XDM Elite 3.8 Compact OSP today. Should have it in 3-4 days. The gun store has one in stock but I didn't want to pay the NIB price for one that had been handled and fondled by curious people like me...and I'm SO glad that that magwell can be removed or that would have killed the chance of me owning one. The dealer told me that it comes with 3 mags  8)
I have no plans for a red dot as of yet, but it being optics-ready makes the price paid a great deal.
I love my Glocks, but I have a feeling that the fatter G29 may be dethroned as the EDC.

ETA...I appreciate any leads on great deals for 15 rd factory mags.

Mine seems to have no complaints eating anything and everything I offer to it. Take that with a grain of salt, but reviews online seem to suggest the 3.8 is every bit as reliable as the 4.5 that did the 10,000 round torture test without any failures.

Finally got to take mine out and good god it was bad. That magwell needs to go. Phew I think my pinkie is still a bit numb after some 180s at 1200. Ate all my ammo without a single complaint, but I didn't give it too many. After a couple mags with its god awful ergonomics my hand said that was enough.

I need to look mine over good. Shot my 4.5" and was consistently nailing bulls eyes at 15 yards. When I pulled out the 3.8" I could barely get it on a 8" target at 10 yards without a boat load of kentucky windage. Sights are nicely centered but no matter how careful I was to be cognizant of all the typical accuracy rules for pistol shooting if I placed the sight on the bull, it would hit about 5" left and 5-6" low. Oof.

Will take the god awful magwell off, slap some 15 rounders with the sleeve in it and see if it was just me not being able to get a comfortable non-punishing grip on it.

All things considered a good day off work, sent some 9mm down with the Sphinx, that thing is still dialed. Sent some subsonic really low power rounds out the ruger wrangler, and Of course laid down some 10mm with my 4.5 xdm and the 3.8. Just wish I had likes the 3.8 more than I do after its first outing. Still looking for an MP 10mm round here.

I agree on that magwell.  It should come in the box as an accessory that will never get used.. like that cable lock.
I had time to put a few rounds of Sig round nose ammo through mine. It handled very nicely, and not much kick at all...of course those Sig rounds are not very stout. Once I got the sight alignment dialed in even the 20 yd. shots were impressive. Credit goes to the XD...I need more range time.
