Has anyone had experience with a Chronometer for under $150 that they recommend ?

ProChrono.  Terrific.  Idiot-proof.

Make sure you get the new bluetooth version...

You can get all the accuracy you need for around $100.  There is a Caldwell precision unit on Prime for $94.59.  Beyond that you are paying for features (like more data logging, stats calculations, bluetooth, remote display) and possibly for name.

Bimmer,
thank you. where did you get yours?

I can't even remember...  It's been 5-10 years.  They're for sale all over:  Amazon, Midway, wherever.

I have one of the older ones, with a separate BlueTooth sender that plugs in.

The new ones integrate the BlueTooth in the housing, so there's nothing stuck on the outside.

I'm NOT tech savvy, but downloading the free ProChrono app to my iPhone and then connecting with the chrono was quick and easy.  My phone announces velocities outloud (impresses the other guys at the range), and the app compiles the data an produces stats/calculations automatically.  When I'm done, I can e-mail all the data to my laptop as a spreadsheet:  Awesome.

This ProChrono looks very nice.  I have used several models of the folding Chrony over the years but when a CED Millenium showed up locally used for around $80 I just had to try it.  I now get a lot fewer error to reads and sold the Chrony.  The CED takes some effort to set-up over this ProChrono that looks very user friendly.  If I were to accidentally shoot my current one, I would be giving it a try.
