Came across a possible privet sale of a witness steel frame full size with wonder finish. It has the flat sided slide that looks like the one on a stock II on EAAs web sight. What should I be looking for I see no cracks around pin holes in frame and none in slide that I can see. Gun is clean and well oiled shows some wear from being carried but not bad. Also rough idea what it would be worth.

$300-$350 is my opinion.  You can get a new Witness Pro for $550.  I might pay $400 if I really had to have it, but that would be the very highest I would pay.  My son-in-law's brother got one about a year ago for $250 used.

Seller is asking 450.00 and I felt that was high. Are the square sided slides stronger than the round slides or is one more desirable than the other?

The below is my understanding, which I cannot document with a source.

There were batches of the "scallop" type rounded slides that were not properly annealed after they were heat treated for hardness.  Those were the source of the cracked slides about a decade ago.  The design itself is just as strong.  But due to the fact that there is no way to tell if a given slide of this style got the right heat treatment including annealing, I personally steer clear.

I paid $450 new for my Wonder finish full-size, but that was around 2005 or 2006 I think.  $450 for a used gun today would not deter me if that was the gun I wanted.  However, I would also say that some patience and diligent searching might turn up a cheaper one.  (Or not).

Thank you for the info. This is a client whose husband passed away a couple years ago. Her son and her daughter picked out together what they wanted from his assortment and this one was left for some reason nobody seem to want it. So she's going to sell it she said she wants 450.00 for it so I told her she if she couldn't get rid of it that I had a standing offer of 400.00 so we'll see where it goes from there.

That's what mine is, purchased new, years before the round slides. It's been great for many years now, the thing is built like a tank. I bought an assortment of Wolff springs and I also run a Henning sports "cone fit" guide rod. I have a lot of confidence in that pistol. If you get it, odds are you won't be disapointed.
